Teo has a clean win over Lomachenko, which is the best win any of them have, and he has wins that are equal to the best wins of the others after that. I also think in the dream world that these guys all fought each other, he’d come out with the best win/loss ratio. He’s shown more levels to his game and adaptability than the rest (remember when everyone thought he was going to try to blitz Loma, but he outboxed him?). His inconsistency is a problem, but he seems to fight to the level of his opposition, I think he gets up for a fight with any of the others.
Not one of these is fit to lace the gloves of the real 4 kings. Whoever came up with this 4 kings nonsense for this lot of very ordinary fighters wants to have a word with themselves.
You have listed 5 and Shakur was never one of the so called 4 Kings. As my countryman the great Ike Ibeabuchi would say any sincere and honest appraisal of this issue will have to put Gervonta “Tank” Davis top of this list inclusive of Shakur.
As for the real 4 kings, Hagler is my pick. Hagler arguably beat all the others,( Leonard loss still as hotly debated as it was straight after the result on fight night). Leonard arguably lost to all the others (loss to Duran, disputed Hagler win, gift draw with Hearn rematch). Hearn lost to the main 2 but destroyed Duran when they could not and was robbed of a decision as mentioned in the rematch with Leonard. As for Duran he was the smaller older battle worn veteran and to put it into perspective was having his 73rd fight when fighting Leonard, his 80th fight when fighting Hearn and his 82nd fight when fighting Hagler. Duran is in a lot of peoples top 3 fighters ever and rightly so.
I picked Stevenson as the best of the lot and Haney as the weakest years ago. Not as sure about shakur today but would still favor him slightly over the rest. Skill wise I would still pick him, it’s the intangibles that have me questioning that pick.
Shakur Stevenson is the best fighter of the group. Yes Teofimo Lopez has accomplished the most but thats because Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis and William Zepeda ducked him Teofimo Lopez is good but crazy. Very inconsistent. Devin Haney is good but overrated. Should've lost to Lomachenko. He has been managed very carefully but was cheated vs Ryan Garcia. Gervonta Davis is a good talent but overrated and the most protected carefully managed boxer right now. Ryan Garcia has power but has always been overrated and lacks the mental toughness to be a star Shakur Stevenson is the real deal and beats everyone at 135 and 140
Nah Hagler is easily behind Leonard and Duran and is last for me SRL Duran Hearns Hagler All amazing and legendary obviously.
They are good fighters and wouldnt call them ordinary but comparing them to the 4 kings of the 80s is ridiculous you are correct
