In 32 pro fights Usyk x 2 Wlad J-Park Dubois Povetkin Pulev Fat Andy x 2 Whyte Takam Martin Breazeale Kevin Johnson Molina Wallin Helenius Franklin Ngannou The Dosser wanted zero smoke with him Belly didn't and still doesn't either Some of those guys in the bottom half are top half wins for the Dosser even though he's had 26 more fights than AJ and AJ fought a bunch of them in his first 20 fights Sure, Wlad and Povetkin were old and well past their best but they were still very good fighters at the time and huge punching KO artists How was J-Park green when AJ beat him when he had more fights than AJ both amateur and pro? In the amateurs AJ fought Cammarelle x 2 Majidov Savon Big Bang Zhang Big Joe Joyce Dychko Nistor Kuzmin Wallin Frazer Clarke Whyte How many fighters can you think of with 75 fights pro and amateur combined have a better total resume than that?
In his two fights with Usyk, Joshua was never hurt as bad as Belly was in that 9th round of the first fight. Joshua has been trying to get Belly to fight him for years, but the feckless big oaf is afraid of AJ. Joshua KOed Ngannou, while Belly disgraced the sport of boxing by being knocked down and needing crooked judges to save him from a deserved loss.
One of my biggest problems with peoples characterization of Wilders resume is how they act like AJ didn't do the same thing and fought the best. Luis Ortiz fought John L Sullivan but Povetkin and Pulev are fine wins. Joshua recycled Molina after Wilder beat him and Wilder recycled Breazeale. The best win AJ has from this era is Parker because Parker beat Wilder etc. Joshua never beat Usyk but Wilder drew Fury yet Joshuas losses have always been rewarded with title shots or offers while Wilder is told he needs to retire. Its telling the highest Joshua was ever regarded was when he wasn't champ in late 23 and early 24. And it was because he destroyed guys that Fury struggled against and who were rated highly as a result. Just showing how this whole argument about who fought the worst competition is circular. It goes round and round. They all did it. Fury deserves the most blame because he started the situation and Wilder and Joshua spent years waiting on him but no one deserves to be raised above the rest.
Joshua and Fury have both been immense disappointments really. I'd have loved to have seen Joshua fight Wilder, Hrgovic, Zhang, Joyce (before Zhang destroyed him). That run of Helenius, Franklin, Wallin, Ngannou was shameful. And he did all that just to get absolutely sparked by the first decent fighter he faced. Furys no better. Chisora 3, Ngannou, several retirements... They should both just stay gone. They won't be missed.
Have to make some corrections to some disturbing info in this thread. 1. Ruiz did NOT train for the rematch. He never trained properly anyway as Sanchez admitted but his coach for the AJ fight confessed Ruiz was very absent from gym and was very disappointed with him. Of course the extra obesity makes that obvious. 2. Pulev was 40 and was still recovering from Covid. It actually isn't a good win at all and nothing like Wlad's win over prime Pulev. 3. The mma fighter had only had one proper boxing match and only performed that well against Fury because Fury and his coach are fools and didn't take it seriously. He was never a proper opponent. Also the wrong side of 35. 4. Wallin wasn't a good win either. Wallin was a sparring partner and AJ chose him after promising the Wilder fight earlier that year! Wallin went on to lose to old Chisora and get dropped multiple times. That's how good that win was. a
Joshua and Fury have given us lots of good nights and fights. Don't why people are so negative sometimes. Sure it's not been perfect but it's been good. Keep in many how many people hated the Kiltschko domination and even before that Fury kicked started a new era were the interest in heavyweights has come up more again. Then AJ kept the train going when Fury was struggling mentally and not fighting.
Negative because they never fought each other and Joshua never fought Wilder (not saying it's all on Aj) and negative because Fury has fought nobody other than usyk and Wilder since wlad Good riddance to both imo. Thankfully usyk saved the division
Yeah, it's one of those things where Fury did better overall against Usyk (for a while), but AJ still didn't do badly. He lost competitive-but-clear fights. The performances AJ and Fury put in against Usyk don't give the impression of some huge gulf in class between Fury and AJ.
You know that sound like poor excuse... And You know that You can write same shi... about almost all fight... Ruiz dont train but still I see bunch of photos and video from training camp. Pulev got covid... But still took fight and was old (lol). Ngannou was poor win but still number 1 almost got draw with him and cant do shot to him xD Wallin give big trouble to Fury but again we can talk how Fury was not "ready" as always when he look bad. When Joshua look bad he is bad. When Fury look bad he just dont prepare correct xD And still fact is Wallin and Pulev was top 10 back then. You dont think they are? Its not my problem. Ruiz dont train? Because they said it after fight? Ok. I guess person like him can talk this after all fight...
I thought over the last 7 years that it was quite impressive Sure there has been some losses but that will often happen when fighters face alot of top rated competitors consistently Headlined several box office events Won WBO, WBA, IBF titles and defended - Unification win over Undefeated WBO champion Parker - Povetkin - Pulev - WBA WBO IBF champion Ruiz jr - Wallin Even with the losses I don't think that looks bad I definitely don't think it is a disgrace
