The WBO have ordered Oleksandr Usyk to defend against Joseph Parker

The reinvention of Parker is somewhat premature for me. Usyk will win every round comfortably in a dull but worthy fight for those who appreciate boxing. He doesn't have the engine to outwork Usyk, doesn't have the power to beat him up and doesn't have the skill to outbox him. Even this older, slower possibly more fragile version of Usyk.

 

In 24 hours I read first that Usyk and Dubois are agreeing to a rematch and then that the WBO has ordered Usyk vs Parker (who is the interim WBO champion), and both Parker and Dubois are managed by Frank Warren. I think that of the two pieces of news the most important is that Usyk and Dubois are agreeing to a rematch, because this was declared by Usyk's manager, Krassyuk. I would also prefer to see Parker - Usyk but at this point I see Usyk - Dubois 2 as more likely, and maybe the winner will face Parker, who the WBO in the meantime could elevate to WBO regular champion (taking the title away from Usyk, as happened with the IBF after the first match with Fury). Mine are obviously suppositions, we just have to wait and see what happens.

I conclude by saying that I really don't care about the issues of the alphabet gang (the most credible title for me is that of Ring Magazine) and I want to see interesting matches. Kabayel deserves a chance for the world title (like Parker) and I would also like to see Kabayel - Dubois but at the moment it seems that it is not in the pipeline, maybe we will be able to see it in the future.

I'll probably get some flak for this, but hear me out. Parker is the riskier fight for both Usyk and Dubois so they may prefer to fight each other instead.

For Dubois he has everything to gain fighting Usyk, money, undisputed etc but nothing to gain beating Parker and everything to lose.

For Usyk, he knows he can beat Dubois, he completely dismantled him before and he hasn't improved that much since their last match, where Parker hasn't been on his radar as much and he'll have to prepare a lot more for him.

I think it'll end up being Usyk vs Dubois, and Parker will end up being elevated or fighting for a vacant against one of the up and comers. Anyone know if Parker would take step aside money?

IF this fight gets made then there is still a slither of justice in boxing;

1) Parker gets his well deserved shot.

2) Usyk earns fresh blood and an in form Parker solidifies his resume more than facing a fighter he has already beaten handily.

3) Most boxing fans seem to want this fight.

Usyk should be favorite by a wide, wide margin in this but Parker does have something for Usyk.

Can't see this being an explosive match up. More high stakes chess. The casuals won't like it but definitely one for the purists this.

 

Here is how I think it might play out. Usyk goes ahead to fight Dubois with a promise for Parker to fight the winner. Usyk gets a chance at undisputed again, Parker gets a chance at undisputed in a bigger event regardless of whether it’s Dubois or Usyk.

 

And if usyk wins against Dubois I expect the Parker fight to be his last.

facts! to be fair if Uysk has 2 fights left I don't mind if he fights Dubois, as long as Parker/Agit get the next shot
