I think it would have been a not very spectacular fight, a real chess match. Two great champions, it's a shame Ward fought so little in the last years of his career due to problems with his manager. Who would have won? Few shots, little action, the desicion is a draw.
I actually think hopkins would nick it Ward will be the popular answer, but old fox Hopkins outsmarts him
Ward for me. He reminded me of Hopkins but with better athleticism. I think Hopkins clearly had the greater career but I think Ward was the better fighter.
If this ever happened they may aswell have licensed it under MMA rules.. cos it would be 12 rounds of groping, stalling, elbows & headbutts... Hopkins is definitely the greater of the two though.. By some way.. as much as a tit as Bhop was Ward never challenged himself like Hopkins did.. for extra gravy we should throw in Bika as guest referee too
I was just about to say that I'd give Borenard vs Andre Bored a skip. In fact I'd pay not to watch it ...
Andre is a decent spoiler, but Hopkins ring savvy is many levels above. Andre got out of the game at 33, and Hopkins was able to be a champ at 50 on trickiness alone. Hopkins somehow was able to hypnotize people into fighting the fight on his terms. Ward would not even realize he is losing until the scorecards are read out. Old man Alien Hopkins by split decision, younger Executioner Hopkins by wider Unanimous decision.
Exactly what I was going to say. Ward is just as tricky but a better athlete. I go with Ward by close decision.
I would like to see this fight with Holyfield as the referee. Every time either guy would headbutt the other, Evander would be standing there with a smirk on his face proudly observing his sons master his headbutting skills.
