As you know on april 12 we have the Stanionis vs Ennis welterweight match up. Some would consider them both the best. The title is vacant ever since Crawford vacated last october. Now,most would say this is for THE CHAMPIOSNHIP.The lineal true welterweight championship. And indeed: The Ring has them 1 and 2 and will fill the championship vacancy; The Ring | Rankings ESPN has them the same: Boxing divisional rankings: Flyweight has a new No. 1 - ESPN However, curiously, our boys at TBRB disagree! They have Ennis no 1 and Stanionis only no 5 so obviously they will differ to most people in the boxing world.Does this not create a weird situation? Maybe @McGrain could shed light on the situation?
It's a tough one isnt it. Obviously Crawford had all the belts, and none of the fractured titles really went to fighters who earned it. If you look at Boots, Barrios, Stanionis, Norman. Have any of them even secured a notable victory yet? You could argue these two are the best two at welterweight, but the division is sp dead they don't really have a meaningful victory between them
Also, Bad Left Hook has them as no. 1 and no. 2. As always with the lineal titles - time will tell. The winner will definitely have a strong claim.
I know about the ranking. My question would be WHY is he just no 5 and why such a ..err lets say somewhat significant difference between you guys and several other outlets?
That s BS and you know it. Your on the panel there so you obviously know why. But it s ok if you dont wish or cant say for whatever reason. I just thought it would be cool to fill that vacancy.
I absolutely do not know why, I don't have a photographic memory for every ranking that's every been discussed in the history of these rankings, that is ridiculous. I could go and find out probably, but i'm not going to.
Stanionis at 5th for TBRB is utterly bizarre, especially since the 3 men distancing him from Boots are Abel Ramos, Brian Norman Jr., and Mario Barrios, none of whom are as good as Stanionis.
No one on this batch deserves it anyway. Let them fight one another and see the actual Rank 1 and 2 of the WW division.
It's a wasteland. It's hardly locked in stone that everyone looks ar Stanionis and thinks he's the second best WW in the world.
This dichotomy should say more to you than any promo rating board's official reasoning. If McGrain is an example of the lazy head-in-ass approach Ring takes then why do you care? I am so super impressed by your creative writing credentials I don't even require you be a knowledgeable, poignant, or even informative talking head. Just let me lick your butthole here and there for forum likes. Y'all serious with this ****?
