They are building a product that could be and wish to be sustainable for the future.

They wont always overpay I suppose is the idea.

If Garcias making 18m, rolly 3m, for around 21m total payout, theyd need to do 420k at $50 a buy for it to break even on ppv. Then add gate and they likely make it into the green.

Still a ridiculous amount to pay these two, but doesnt seem overly hard for turki to make a profit here.

The point is, if they have the type of money to flush down the toilet, then it doesn't make sense to even hide it behind a paywall, if their goal is to build, and gain exposure.

Overpaying for mediocre fights isnt building a product. Its the HBO recipe for exiting boxing with a financial L.

Nice try but I heard that same exact line for half a decade from people defending these same moves from HBO, before they left the sport due to mismanagement lol.

Math is math. Billionaires dont have magic math that make 2+2=5 lol.

    And they were true lol.
Your not smart, you have no money. You dont know what your talking about.
In a post above you were calculating Ryan and Rolly s purses and what it would take to break even this card without even taking into consideration that you also have to factor in Teo,Barboza,Haney and Ramirez s purses aswell. With a little bit of reading you would have known there will be next to no live gate.Again,no financial awareness at all.
The sheikhs are doing this card as an ego trip with possible future gains ,weather that will be possible or not we have to see.
Weather this is TKO or something different we will see.

HBO only folded because of the management change and it was a slow death. You seeing it when many saw it was already dwindling down is like saying you knoew Ali wasnt the same when he fought Holmes.
You cant be broke and smart bro.

Sure, but the same thing happened with Showtime Boxing. Kirk´s criticisms are valid, and not unique to him.
Heck, even the PBC failed because of similar reasons. Sure, they are still around but now they are doing 1/4th of the yearly cards they used to do - most of which are behind a PPV. Roc Nation threw money at a wall and failed instantly.

If the aim is for exposure and to build a brand, then it´s stupid to put the fights behind a paywall. It´s clear that Turki is not willing to just throw money away, so the big cards end up on PPV.

Correct but none of those entities had infinite money behind them which these guys do.

Again, if the money were not an issue then there would not be a need for these fights to be on PPV.
And for your information - the money is not infinite. They have a budget that is to be allocated to sports. For the 2024/2025 season it´s $450 million.

Me not factoring in the others purse was because I didnt know they were the same card, as I havent been paying attention to boxing much lately. Fine got me there.
But you realize that actually makes the point of them burning money even worse lol. That they are spending even more money, and getting even less in return, makes their moves even worse.

    ......

You say they are overpaying for mid fights but also putting them on ppv because they are building something.

When the reply is, thats not building anything, your only response is that 'billionaires know what they are doing.'

When it gets correctly pointed out that thats what people were saying for years before HBO boxing went under, you say 'that was obvious'.

Yes thats the point lol. When people are conducting bad business, its obvious. When youre not making more money then youre spending, thats not a winning strategy and is not sustainable long term.

The same things HBO was doing, is what Turkis doing. The same "they know better then you because theyre the professionals" defense that was made for HBO, is the same defense youre using for Turki lol.

Only difference is the scale. Turki has enough money to burn to do this 100 times over, and if their goals are not aligned with pure profits for some reason and they are gaining in some other area enough for them to be ok with perpetually losing money, then they can keep this up for a long time while taking Ls.

    Doesnt make it good business.

And it doesnt magically become good business just because theyre billionaires.

Now is there a chance they snatch victory out of the claws of defeat? Of course... if they slowly pivot this into a sustainable system, then thats great. Time will tell.

You still havent figured it out yet? They dont care about losing now, they know they will, they said so already.
They are building correctly for now.

They are not building anything IN YOUR OPINION.Realistically boxing is only moving and thriing strictly because of saudi money.Without it it would be the same old mess as it always was.

There are differences.Neither HBO nor DAZN nor PBC had the money these guys have.Nor were they building towards anything.
Even the match ups werent as compelling as what we get now....the reason being Turki Alalsheikh IS the no 1 promoter in the world now and he has taken all the former promoters now middlemen under his wing to,as he said it,fix boxing.
Those 3 entities together couldnt get match ups as compelling as 1 entitty can in a lesser period of time. That tells you something.
Hell boxing couldnt get it no 1 and 2 p4p to fight altough they were in the same weight class.I am talking about May and Pac.It took 5 years to make that fight.
Can you imagine that happening now under Alalsheikh?Never offcourse.

Your answer will be TKO Boxing. That system is what they are looking forward to build in a league type business that will make profit.
The pay system there is already public,it isnt tens of millions,it s sustainable.
I assume they will go with that and do some super fights here and there or some sort of other non TKO system at some point.

The blueprint has been laid down and it s fairly easy to see.

    Future vision.

It is infinite. You think if need be that budget WONT be adjusted? You think the king,if need be is gonna say no?C mon.

Plus that budget is what?Riyadh Season budget. This card is not even Riyadh Season, its The Ring.See what they did there? They tricked you in beleiveing they have only one side popping money into it when it s really ANY side.Cuz it s infinite.
Offcourse you cnat see it since you lack financial awareness.
    It s infinite.

The Ring, TKO, and Riyadh Season all share the same budget you nimrod.
If there is a set budget, then by definition the money is not infinite.

And again, if the money is infinite then why do they need to put fights on PPV? Explain this to someone as if they lacked financial awareness.

You can add Showtime and ESPN into the failed business model. I see Joker is still being Joker with new alt
