Asinine Joyce is 39 and finished after the Zhang fights, his wins over Parker and Dubois are credible
Constant rematches taking place at belt level didn't help him. We should have seen him have at least a shot at one years back.
I never rated him but he got a few decent wins that I didn't expect. He's on the decline and from a sporting and health point of view, he needs to retire.
Add to that, he clearly upset his own promoter, Frank Warren, when he beat his future golden goose, Dubois, in 2020. Warren managed to rebuild Dubois, get him the WBA Regular in 2022, and then get him a title shot at Usyk in 2023. Joyce after beating Parker in 2022, got matched with Zhang in 2023. It was crazy to take Zhang as a tick over. Dubois loses to Usyk, and is put in with an overweight Miller to rebuild his confidence in a sensible manner. Joyce loses to Zhang, and who does he fight again...?
I think the thought was Zhang win #1 was a fluke because of the eye injury. Then he fought Kash Ali to rebuild, then Chisora which should of been a win on paper for Joyce, then Whyte who Joyce.....should beat.... I think. But, I'm sure warren wasn't happy with Joyce beating Dubios. And yes the Zhang rematch didn't seem like the greatest idea.
Good fighter, just needs a new trainer to freshen things up. I think Kronk style would be good for him since he's a juggernaut. What style could be better? Give Sugar Hill a call and learn how to 'big dog' other fighters. Take a few tune-ups then challenge Zhang to a rematch with the new Kronk style.
Nothing new happened. He always had no defense and was glacier slow. It caught up to him. I'm surprised he beat Dubious cause Dubois has power. But I guess it's not that monstrous power Zhang has. Anybody with serious power would have flattened Joe as he is going to take it square on the jaw repeatedly.
