I dropped that particular phrase in this thread, and honestly I think the cynics such as yourself have a point. I was trying hard not to hate on the American A side for once in my life.

 

Pointing out a fact that somebody is bigger than someone else isn’t really an excuses it’s a fact.

 

Butaev got robbed against Alexander Besputin and has long been on a lot of people's radar, including mine and @CST80's.

Maestre was a huge amateur star for Venezuela. Hasn't been as successful in the pros, but I mean - he did win an interim world title in just his 4th bout.

I don't think you understand how much of a mental game boxing is. It's easy to disregard your health if you have nothing to lose. When you have a baby due any minute then you have different priorities. The corner was quick on the trigger to pull the plug, with no complaints from Stanionis.
I just watched the fight, there was nothing Boots did so well that would cause the guy from the Butaev fight to quit. Boots had one good round, and that was it. Boots isn't skilled or powerful, he has athleticism and size.

 

Yep easily 15 to 20 pounds heavier.
