I picked Ennis to win by a close decision so he exceeded my expectations in that regard. Credit to him for that.

Still though, I just ain't wowed by him. My main complaint is how he leaves himself open constantly. Even tonight he was getting hit clean and getting his head snapped back a good bit, by punches he really shouldn't have been getting hit with.

It doesn't matter since this fight will likely never happen, but I stand by my position a couple years back. Crawford makes mincemeat out of this guy.

On a funnier note, the commentary highlight for me tonight was how the crew was talking up Stanionis winning the fifth round, then Ennis started to find some slight success near the end of the round and suddenly they were comparing him to Neo from the Matrix.

If Neo was Ennis, those movies would've ended a hell of a lot sooner if the punches he was getting hit with tonight are any indicator

I thought about that one too, but Stan struggled badly in that fight where as, as you mentioned, the early Ennis ko. Crawford also ko’d him just to add fuel to the fire.

Keep that same energy for fighters you like who are big in their weight classes but we all know you won't.

My favorite fighters are Kambosos, Tszyu and Opetaia not one of them is big for their division.

The Butaev match that he also arguably lost.

    Here was my scorecard.

    Round 1 Butaev 10-9
    Round 2 Stanionis 10-9
    Round 3 Butaev 10-9
    Round 4 Butaev 10-9
    Round 5 Butaev 10-9
    Round 6 Stanionis 10-9
    Round 7 Stanionis 10-9
    Round 8 Butaev 10-9
    Round 9 Butaev 10-9
    Round 10 Butaev 10-9
    Round 11 Butaev 9-9
    Round 12 Stanionis 10-9

    115-112 Butaev

Most had it a draw or a point in either direction. There's a reason why it was a Split Decision.

Also the Maestre match was way closer than the scorecards reflect.

    Thank you.

Idk tho, not sure this is enough for me to believe Staniosis is an overly impressive welterweight win.

Hopefully he becomes more active and can be in some more big fights, will help show his level a bit more imo and put this win in better perspective.

So I'm seeing Boots gets hit too much (he's aggressive and it happens) and he's too big for the division; Tito, Vernon Forrest, Kermit Cintron Paul Williams etc.........and I could go on and on were all bigger than him. Some of these criticisms are a little crazy. If Boots turned completely negative and pot shot and moved, which he clearly has the ability to do, I think he'd get critiqued for that as well. Nothing he does is gonna be enough for those who don't like him.

My only criticism is he needs to stay focused in the ring, he shouldn't be showboating at this level. Beyond that, he's building a rep and he's only 27.

But... most of the head shots he ate, were when he was on the backfoot attempting to be defensive.
