I watched this fight along with thousands of other boxing fans on a gigantic big screen at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. The atmosphere was truly electric and it was the only boxing match I ever "attended" that was like what you see on TV. During the first round everyone was cheering at the top of their lungs and there were at least 50 fans standing throwing lefts and rights at an imaginary opponent.
I just watched the first round again and it is just amazing how many devastatingly hard punches from the Hitman just bounced off of Hagler's head without slowing him down at all.
