I am still in shock from the haymaker Dubois hit Joshua with in the first round! How did it happen?

Let's go back to the end of the 1st round. They are engaged in a clinch with a little over 10 seconds left. The referee separates them and they are not in punching range of each other. Joshua is just standing there like there's an agreement they're going to take the rest of the round off. Arms down, not fighting. Dubois throws himself half way across the ring and lands a monster over hand right directly on Joshua's chin, who isn't able to get up his hands in time.

What on Earth was that? Why did Joshua just stand there after the clinch? Gotta give props to Dubois for attempting that impossible shot as well. Why not, if you're opponent is just standing there? What's crazy, is that the shot won him the fight. Joshua was never able to recover. Who knows what would have happened if Joshua simply protected himself for the rest of the round or if Dubois didn't launch himself across the ring like that.

What an unusual chain of events. I'm having trouble remembering a similar, legal shot being landed on a fresh opponent, who simply forgot where he was.

AJ was mentally shook from the pressure Dubois was bringing, also a bit shook up from the shot that buzzed him earlier, possibly concussed, and had a major lapse in judgement, of not protecting himself while Dubois was very much in range.

It was audacious, somewhat lucky, and absolutely superb, I watch it to cheer myself up sometimes

AJ is a bodybuilding bum so it was a natural occurance of events. He was nervous on his ring walk and he smelt of poo when the bell rang.

AJ is not a natural fighter never has been he tries to think his way through fights even though he's dumb as hell and has no natural fighting instincts. Basicallly he's just useless.

Dubious is an all round better fighter than AJ

Joshua inexplicably let his guard down as if the round was already over. He should have been more focused.

It reminded me of Mayweather's KO of Ortiz (Floyd's only KO/TKO in his last 10 fights).

    I say this as a non-fan.

AJ is a future HOF boxer - and a huge reason why boxing has regained its footing worldwide. A unified champ.

    No need for name calling

AJ needs to stay away from a rematch. Go a different route.

DD’s footwork was great that fight. I think he took half a step just before delivering the shot. Kept catching AJ when he thought he was a safe distance away.

Dubois was landing his authoritative jab at will and backing a poorly defending Joshua up from the very first bell. It was just a matter of time before Dubois landed big.

The bomb Dubois landed at the end of the first round was obviously decisive but if Dubois hadn't landed then he would have at some point shortly after It was just the pattern of what was unfolding.

I agree that DD is a better fighter but to say that AJ is a “bodybuilding bum” is not accurate at all, what did AJ do to you???

AJ won the Olympics, was very successful as a professional, became a world champion and looked pretty unstoppable until he fought Ruiz. AJ lost all his momentum after Ruiz and been pretty mediocre since then, never found he way back to the same shape he once was.

AJ is a perfect example of a hungry up and coming fighter getting too comfortable with his money, fame and YES men around him and lost everything because of it.

Saying that, AJ is done as a fighter but still no reason to call him a bum.

I really think he just ought to settle some things from the past...Wilder, Fury, Ruiz rubber if it can be sold.

I think Joshua just thought he was out of range and his mind was getting ready to take a break. Dubois is quite athletic for a guy his size, he can get into range quickly. From memory it was a strange shot as well, almost like an overhand right that he stepped forward with at the same time.

He was too confident and still cold. Dubois' pressure didn't let him get into the fight like he normally would like to. He started to make basic mistakes as he was uncomfortable and them BAM, perfect shot by Dubois that would knock down a mule.

Dubois fought very well but I believe it was also due in part to Joshua's overconfidence and carelessness. If they ever fight again, I'm pretty sure Joshua will try to "Ruiz II" him.
