    I'll start with Tom Johnson.

    Your turn now.

To that, I'd add Jose Luis Ramirez, Alfredo Escalera, Betulio Gonzalez, Santos Laciar and Marvin Johnson.

But I mean more like you thought at one time they had the talent, and then something happened and their career did not pan out as it looked...like Sumbu Kalambay for example..I think he had the skills to be a hall of famer but something (namely Michael Nunn) happened there..

Then it would be Alberto Davila,I will never forget that day Luigi battered up Mario in Gomez vs Davil-Luigi vs Mario.

I used to think Nunn fit this description to a tee, but apparently he just got in anyway?

John Tate looked like the future of the hw division after he won a tourney to decide Ali's successor, then the bottom fell out from under him.

Johnny Bratton was considerably talented & beat a lot of good contemporaries, but typically came up short vs. hof-level opposition. if he could've flipped 1 of his fights w/ Gavilan or Williams, he'd probably have a case for getting in.

I very much thought Meldrick Taylor was going to make the HOF. In truth he DID have the talent. He just got derailed badly. While the Chavez fight hurt him, what I truly felt finished him off was matching him with Terry Norris. Terrible mistake

Junior Poison Jones was a 122lb problem for boxers back in the 90s. He did recently make the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame in 2025 he isn't currently in the IBHOF.

He still needs to be inducted anyways,so many wins over great contenders, plus a win vs future world champion in Joe Brown.

Another one,I think Gaspar Ortega is a good mention, quite powerful with good body movement, can infight and box at a distance, but he always came short for 70% of his best fights.
