I have been giving this a lot of thought going into fight week. Both seem in excellent physical condition having trained very well. All things considered my prediction is Christopher Livingstone Eubank Jr will defeat Conor Nigel Benn by stoppage inside of 10 rounds.
Early on, Benn is going to come out fast, trying to close the distance and turn it into a firefight. That’s his best chance, he needs to make it uncomfortable early because once the pace settles, the size and experience difference will start showing. But technically, Benn’s pressure is pretty basic. He comes forward in straight lines, doesn’t cut the ring off properly, and his defence when he throws combinations is wide open. Eubank’s jab and short counters will start catching him clean once Benn starts reaching in too much. The big difference is inside. Eubank’s short uppercuts and hooks are tighter and sharper. He doesn’t need a lot of space to do damage, and when Benn tires, which he will, pushing up against a full middleweight for the first time, Eubank will start ripping fast combinations, especially to the body. Another key thing is stamina. Benn tends to fade after early bursts. Eubank, for all his flaws, has always had a good gas tank, especially when he doesn’t waste energy early. As soon as Benn’s output drops, Eubank will start overwhelming him, pinning him on the ropes, and unloading in volume. I don’t think it’s going to be one clean shot that ends it. It'll be a gradual breakdown, Benn gets overwhelmed, takes too many clean shots, and either the ref steps in or the corner pulls him out around 7 or 8.
CE jr's popularity is definitely rising as he ages. I used to really dislike him as a much younger bloke. I don't anymore as he's maturing nicely. This content is protected
I never thought I’d ever see a fight where I actually wanted Eubank Jnr to win,yet here we are and Benn Jnr will be eggstremely lucky if he were to get the nod over Eubank !
