Slightly off topic, but I am surprised Nigel Benn was as popular as he is perceived, as I always thought he came across as arrogant and a bit of a *****. Seemed to have a genuine chip on his shoulder. With Eubank senior, it was more pantomime and posturing, but he came across as a decent human being imo.
Benn was popular before Eubank came along because of his explosive KO`s and hairstyle, Eubank started the war of words with Benn who seen him as a Johnny come lately.
I met Benn when I wa 12 at a boxing venue in Batersea park, I got his autograph and he was really friendly.

Everyone loved Nigel Benn back then. Hated Eubank with a vengeance. It’s odd to think why it was so vastly opposing now in hindsight. I think people didn’t like manners or truth, and could relate to Benn (‘Nige’) in those gloomy Thatcher days.
Wouldn’t be surprised if C.Benn has been on-cycle between the last fight and this camp. In fact it’s more than likely. Things like propianate esters and dianabol are in & out your system in days.
Eubank JNR would have gone more than 3 rounds with his dad and Benn. When did Eubank knock people out that quick? He went the distance with fighters a lot worse than Eubank JNR. I also think prime Eubank JNR would have gone the distance with Benn. I don’t think he beats either by the way. Eubank JNR has only ever been put over once in his career and I’m still convinced that was down to the weight. Prior to the first Smith fight, nobody had even come close to wobbling him let alone knocking him down.
All those were bigger fights in terms of prestige, but this fight has captured the publics imagination more. Since the first fight was cancelled, the fight is far bigger now, mainly due to the failed drug test which has intensified the rivalry and the egg slap.

I personally don't think he'd be stupid enough to take peds again. However I do think he's got to shape he's in, using the after effects of his juicing in the last few years.
