Would have to be someone with a huge punch and an anvil of a chin. I don’t know if we saw enough of Ike Ibeabuchi to make him a candidate but on the surface he might be a suspect
I like Bowes chances to out slug Foreman more than Listons. Lewis with he uppercut would be dangerous for Foreman early.
Prime Tyson could be trouble based on his combination of insane speed and power. And Tyson did have an anvil for a chin.
Wasnt prime anyway for the answer, prolly not but id give Ike Ibeabuchi a good shot. Moreso because i think he'd outlast Foreman rather than overpowering him
No, but Ron Lyle almost did. They fighter needs to be able to stand up to Foreman in terms of strength and size, a Dempsey or Marciano type of guy doesn’t stand a chance. Mike Tyson stands a chance, but I wouldn’t favour him. Some others being Bowe, Lewis, Ibeabuchi and to a lesser extent Liston and Vitali Klitschko, the latter 2 had great power and combinations, but they weren’t as good chest to chest as Bowe and Lewis or even Lyle himself in terms of shortening up punches.
Apart from Liston? Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe. Possibly Lennox. I think Vitali would have been a tough fight for a young Foreman too.
If Lyle almost did it I imagine quite a few could. Tyson, Vitali, Wilder, Bowe. Baer and Louis maybe.
No one, Liston could beat Foreman only by boxing him but as Dick Saddler said "you don't come at Foreman", he said that with a reason and Dempsey said that Foreman is the strongest boxer he ever seen. I think Tyson, Liston, Bowe, Ibeabuchi, Marciano...would put a good fight before getting KOed if they slug with Foreman, maybe even KO him down but that's it, Foreman would prevail simply because the man was force of nature, chin like a concrete, brutal punch and brutal strenght.
He was chosen to make George look good by his management because he “came right at you” the thing no one is apparently capable of against GF? 7-8 years older then GF just came off two losses to JY / MA with only a win over the very average Shavers… Foreman had been off for a year and two months FFS not unheard of and was in his most productive years? How was he not in his prime? “Mentally fried” is that it? That’s why he was shell shocked by the first right hand?
