At the time Mares was on a roll, and an impressive one. If I am not mistaken - he also had some fights lined up with Gonzales just being a stepping stone.
It was just a really satisfying upset with how smooth the knockdown and stoppage were. Plus as I said, it completely derailed his career.

Kostya Tszyu vs Jab Zudah, I was just a littleun at the time so I couldn't appreciate it in the moment, but the youtube replay of the fight has given me much pleasure.

I remember it mate. Showtime was hyping Mares like crazy. I couldn't stand the **** because he was so dirty and it was so blatant.

Holyfield was also a huge underdog against Tyson. In Australia, the odds for him winning by stoppage were 14 to 1 and a head to head 7 to one. I know because I bet on Holyfield.

Ruiz's win over Joshua played out like a Rocky movie. Only thing missing was 'Adrian! Adrian!"

Kambosos vs Teofimo Lopez probably. Just the knockdown in the first round would have been enough, but to actually go on to win the fight was icing on the cake. Since then, I've softened on Lopez, but it was amazing at the time.

It was more than that to start with. Holyfield started off as a 25/1 underdog! ,and closed at 15/2
