What excuse does Bakole have to come in over 300lbs. Just seen him draw an easily winnable fight because Ajagba was able to just pot shot him on the periphery of the ring. Zero head movement, zero ability to cut off the ring because of excess blubber. “Disgrace” may sound harsh but this is a guy who has the world at his feet and all he has to do is clean up his diet and run a few extra miles. Question I have is why is Billy Nelson allowing him to fight at such a high weight?
I think they should consider a Mohammed Ali part 2 act where your trainer can't be your manager cos wtf was that condition?
I posted in the RBR that the vibe I get is that Billy is a yes man who lets Bakole do what he wants. Embarrassing to hear Bakole complain their after the fight about having to cut weight so quickly after the Parker fight. If he simply shows a bit of professionalism and stays in shape year round he possibly beats Parker and he sure as hell would have stopped Ajagba within six had he come in around 280. It’s his job and he has the world at his feet and he can’t dedicate himself to simply watching what he eats.
I commend that. Saw on his IG a while back he is building some sort of mall in his homeland. That in itself should motivate him to get in shape.
Imagine having the key to make millions potentially if you just put the burger down. What is wrong with him?
I agree, but he was able to turn up as a fat slob, hopelessly chase Ajagba around the ring for ten rounds, and still get a draw. It is not just Bakole that has cause for introspection after the fight.
After the Jared Anderson win, he celebrated in the Congo in front of many thousands of fans there to greet him. It was scenes like he'd won a world title and dethroned Usyk or something. I found it strange considering he'd only beaten Jared Anderson. It's low standards from being from a country/continent that's very poor at boxing So he's had his Fury beating Wlad type moment, and his discipline and motivation has gone like Fury's did.. It's like he feels he's climbed the mountain and made his money.
for some fighters their first few big paydays is enough for the motivation to go. He got paid extremely well for the Parker fight, and decent money for Anderson.
That was a really important fight for Bakole and he blew it. Looks like he doesn't have the discipline to be a serious contender.
The worst part is that the talent is there, an in shape Bakole would be at the top of the division imo. But if that loss to Parker didn’t get him into shape then I’m not sure anyone can.
All involved with Bakole should be ashamed. He’s nearly 22 stone, it can’t be that difficult for a full time athlete to drop some weight but they’re clearly only interested in money.
Sad that Bakole has lost his motivation. It’s over for him now at the highest level. No doubt he will roll on for a few years accumulating mixed results. Perhaps becoming a name for up and comers to test themselves against. Since the Kuzmin fight in December of 2020 he was 48lbs heavier for the Ajagba fight.
Totally lost interest after the Parker farce when clearly he was exposed as not living the life of a professional athlete. Should have dedicated himself and kicked on after beating Anderson now it looks like he has set his sights on the best Greggs Customer Award. An absolute mess and I agree a complete disgrace of a man. Sadly too many put loot before glory and he looks one of them. More Eye on the Patisserie than Eye of the Tiger.
Billy Nelson has done a really good job selling his man. He's never been that good; fights like his feet are stuck in the mud and defends with his face. He got a lucky decision against Kuzmin a few years ago, that's when I knew the Hunter fight wasnt a fluke and he's just not that good
