Three things I'm not sold on Crawford vs Canelo, not counting everything else. Has Crawford ever faced a puncher as heavy as Canelo and Canelo has a god tier chin, and Canelo is very judge "friendly" in that he gets a lot of points from judges. So I dont see Crawford getting the KO and he will need to be very impressive to get the judges decision, that plus we don't know how he will handle power at Canelo's level. Thats not even counting things like a new weight class, getting older etc etc.
I think since Bivol, Canelo has been fighting down to the level of his opponent. I think we will see a very different Alvarez against Bud. For me the big questions in that fight are:- 1) Will Crawford look to get on his bike and potshot, or will he stay in the pocket like Mayweather did? 2) Will Crawford be able to deal with Canelo's bodywork 3) Is Canelo really as declined as he showed last night in terms of cutting off the ring, or did he do 'just enough' in neutral gear to get the - already decided lets face it - decision?
Another 'mega fight' in which you can't be sure what you're getting. Crawford's never fought at this weight, is probably on the slide, and then so is Canelo. Now if this was 2021 and Crawford had managed to get a belt at 168 - totally different.
If Crawford wins he gets all the credit in the world for daring to be great. If Canelo wins he gets 0 credit because Crawford is a 40 year old WW.
Since this fight was first rumoured to be a possibility I have seen this as a difficult fight for Canelo. Stylistically it's just going to be difficult as Crawford will box and counter from range and he faster than anyone Canelo has had to deal with for years. Now of course Canelo has the power and we don't know if Crawford can take that power and we know Crawford can get caught at times. That's the unknown for me, how will Crawford handle the power of Canelo, he's going to get chin checked at some point. If he can take it then Canelo is in for a long tough night.
Khan boxed a a prime way way heavier version of Clenelo's ears off with ease for 5 rounds prior to walking into that hail Mary Clenbuterol bomb from hell, I don't see anything special whatsoever in a damn near same size much longer reach Crawford doing it for 12 rounds against this shot slug slow footed version of Clenelo who hasn't been able to get anyone out of there in four years despite the fact he's fought nothing but cherrypicks. This version of Clenelo is a pale shadow of the version who GGG bear twice and we know even the prime version could not deal with a certain style to save his life. All Crawford has to do is box and move, use his 4'' reach advantage and not caught with anything silly by the slower and supposedly 'bigger'' man
Crawford can defo pull this off but I don't know how good Crawford will be at SMW, and Canelo is incredibly formidable.
Canelo has been overrated for many years also to the point most people still don't realize he is close to shot.
