Terence is currently in a position where he has some sycophants and some genuine fans who believe he has a chance of beating Canelo. Although boxing is unpredictable, and anything can happen in the ring, the odds are very slim. Terence, who looked light at super welterweight, couldn’t knock out his opponent and showed a lack of power at 154 pounds. Now, add two more weight classes to that, and we’ll have a slower Terence with a punch that won’t command Canelo’s respect. Canelo, who is notoriously difficult to hit due to his excellent head and waist movement, remains a major obstacle.

Yes, Canelo is clearly in decline, but any version of him is good enough to knock out Terence. I know Terence uses the best steroids available, but Canelo can do the same and probably will, so that won’t be an advantage. At 168, Terence has no power, no movement, and will tire quickly.

So, when Terence gets knocked out, are we going to act as if, "Canelo knocked out a small man that no one asked to move up to 168"? Or will we say, "Terence is special—the only one capable of moving up three weight classes to challenge Canelo, but he was easily defeated because Canelo is the greatest boxer of all time"?

This really is a lose lose fight for Canelo if he wins he was supposed to anyway and if he loses it is quite embarrassing to lose to a much smaller and older man.
For Crawford he has nothing to lose but his unbeaten record. It is a huge pay day for him and I reckon he will retire after this fight. It really is a novelty fight almost similar to Roy Jones v Tito Trinidad.

He'll go out and celebrate, we'll talk about it for a few weeks, the world will move on like nothing ever happened.

I am taking Crawford to knockout Canelo.
Crawford will be the stronger man.
    This is no joke.
    Faster and hits harder.

What would be so shocking of a bigger boxer knocking out a guy that is 2 weight class lower?

This is an unpopular opinion that I have some sympathy for.

An ageing Bud who did not trouble Madrimov at 154, knocking out Canelo at 168, would be one of the biggest shocks in the sport's history. I'd say stranger things have happened in boxing, but I can't think of any. If Canelo had been buzzed or knocked down, then maybe, but I see nothing from either man throughout their whole career that suggests Bud could hurt him. Bud is too inactive, old, and small to beat the big names at 160, never mind Canelo at 168. It's a circus fight. Crawford might have a few good rounds, but it will end up like the Canelo-Khan fight as soon as he lands, probably between the 5th and the 8th.

Every time I see Canelo he looks sad and disinterested. He looks old. His hair has really thinned out and since all his brothers went bald he probably got a hair transplant a while ago but the meds used to prevent further hair loss seems to have stopped working or have hit diminished returns so he's starting to go bald again. He's just all old looking now. He looks even in spirit that he's gotten old. No energy zero enthusiasm. If he looks and acts like this during the Crawford build up I fully expect him to show up with that same attitude in the ring and lose and not even care after.

I am going to be the one that plays hot take negative Nancy and say that this fight will absolutely end up in a below expectations dud.
It won't end in a knockout, it won't even have a knockdown, but it will basically be a fight were it ends in a rather dull decision by Canelo after he fails to drop Crawford but Crawford doesn't do enough to win because he goes on the defensive mode after his punches don't damage Canelo either. Crawford may start out aggressive, but after a few shots traded he would not want to engage after realizing his opponent.

They say Canelo has lost his edge and on the slide. Well Crawford is also on a downhill after being rather underwhelming against a top level (but not the absolute best) 154 fighter.
They say Crawford is taller and longer reach than Canelo so the weight division jump won't matter. Well Canelo has faced guys even taller and/or longer reach than Crawford and much heavier than him so it will be easier for him to face physically.
They say Crawford is by far the best guy Canelo would've fought since Bivol. Well Canelo is also by far the best guy Crawford would've fought in his CAREER even if he's on the slide.
They say Canelo is younger by age but is more worn out due to his longer career and more fights? How is that any different from arguing that Crawford will be essentially 38 years old and rusty having not fought in 13 month, and also slow and heavy after essentially jumping 21 pounds in 2 years.

The Scull fight simply absolutely sucked, but that being said all it did was to further guarantee that it will end in a boring decision win by Canelo with minimal action worth noting. The reason people are excited is because Crawford hasn't fought since Madrimov to even have a chance to lower his values (but also did zilch to raise it) while Canelo has fought twice.
