I was going to say there is a argument that his earlier WBO defenses shouldn't be included but that still leaves with 18 which is still among the highest.

Virgil Hill is another fighter who made tons of defenses. 10 defenses in each for his two title reigns, which is 20 in total.

it is a great question and an excellent set of resourse material, but it needs followed up with "How many of those title defences & opponents were truly Top Men and more accurately the legitimate No.1?

also "How many of those 'titles' are proper Lineal Titles and not just abc Belts?

that too will change some of these Stats.
