Iran Barkley VS Darrin Van Horn

I remember Van Horn's old man saying "We're going to bomb Iran" in the lead up to it. Bad move.

 

Van Horn simply didn't have the size or strength at 168. Once Barkley knew Van Horn couldn't hurt him, it was over. Barkley was so strong and tough.

 

1992 Barkley was hungry and in fighting shape. A real shame he didn't get the Benn rematch he wanted. Nigel avoided it

 

I'd love to have seen a rematch!

 

It took a Maske to beat that kind of Barkley.

 

I was at the old Felt Forum at MSG for the fight and Barkley came into the ring so fierce that night he scared the whole building ... he had evil intentions that night ...

 

Big comeback win for Barkley, who was thought to be washed up & was brought in w/ the intention of adding a nice-looking scalp to DVH's resume. The Blade had other plans though.

 

Van Horn looked like he got caught in the wrong neigborhood.

 

If I saw Iran in an alley and he smiled asked me directions to a bus stop, I’d give him all my money and beg him not to hurt me.

 

I saw this fight. And if I’m correct Van Horn sustained some serious damage form it

 

Van Horn had a decent career but really wasn't that much getting beaten up by Rosi twice.

 

It was during some post-fight interview, I think with Lampley, Barkley was asked what he planned to do after this win and he replied, "Rob your house!"

 

Correct, his career fizzled out amidst rumors of ongoing concussive effects years after this fight.

 

Sad story. Van Horn was a good fighter but he was protected for a lot of his career.
