How would've Tyson-Holyfield II went if Mike didn't go for the bite?

Mike would of course always have that puncher's chance. But you'd have to lean towards Holyfield and likely by a late stoppage once again.

I could be wrong but didn’t Mike admit at least on one occasion that biting Evander was his way of getting out of the fight?

I think he just said that he was frustrated with the headbutts.

I don't want to count on Mike too fast, but c'mon.

Holyfield would just butt, cut him and finish the fight late, tho Mike had quite the condition and physicality to break the distance/might trouble Holyfield at times,I'm not sure.

Yeah, maybe. I’ll check when I get the chance.

Was rewatching the fight this AM ... through nine Holmes took the first four , the seventh and the ninth ... he was always moving forward and was never stunned while Spinks was briefly stunned a couple of times ...

He’s definitely mentioned the head butts as many have but he’s also said (maybe in his book) that Holyfield was just better than him and hurting him and he wanted to hurt him back. I don’t remember the exact quote but something to the effect of this guy was so good I couldn’t do anything with him.

It’s a shame we didn’t see the fight in June of 1990 if Douglas didn’t happen or even in 91 (Tyson’s rib injury pullout) I tend to lean Holyfield in 91 but if we’re going Prime for Prime then it gets really tricky.

Evander wins this, bite or no bite. The ship had sailed as far as Tyson being an elite fighter.

yes, but here the psyche decided. Didn't it turn out during the process of Tyson regaining his license that he had been suffering from depression, manic states, had to take antidepressants that caused weight fluctuations and apathy and had a bad effect on training? There are publications from that period available on the internet because they were published during the work of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Tyson was no longer mentally fit to play sports at that time.

I agree. I was just talking about the rematch against Holyfield, not the period after.

Holyfield would get DQ'd or it would go to a technical decision.

Evan would have had a Field day.

Had Mike's number - would've ate his punches, would outwork him, would tie him up and disrupt his momentum and eventually would take over and start bullying him in the clinch.

Evan's up there with Duncan Ferguson, Lee Chapman, Bazza, Gazza, Stevie from the pub with his egregious use of the forehead, but let's not ignore that Mike bulls his way in and doesn't expect fighters to tuck the chin and shell up.

Take away the headbutts and Evan's mental strength, willpower, chin and workrate and ring IQ were all sufficient to beat this version and any post prison version of Mike.

    Well, ok but see

    https://www.karenfranklin.com/files/Tyson1998-Combined.pdf

according to the medical report, it had been going on for a long time. It didn't happen suddenly after the Holyfield fight. At most, it intensified, but Tyson's weak psyche at that time was a fact. He wasn't ready didn't he demand a change of referee right before the fight under threat of canceling the fight? didn't he behave strangely at the weigh-in, being clearly stressed? before the Golota fight, he had to smoke a joint to calm down, and in the 2nd round he tried to stop the fight with fouls. In my opinion, it was very similar behavior
