Agreed on all counts. We criticize Floyd fanboys, and rightfully so, but RJJ fanatics are not much better. They really made Lebedev into some kind of boxing supervillain for daring to beat Roy. Denis even issued an apology for blasting that tofu chin into oblivion. Cultists indeed.

 I recommended one of them to a psychiatrist I know once and he actually gave me a right bollocking afterwards for doing so. He was like don't ever do that again. He has over 25 years of experience being a psychiatrist and he said he'd never encountered anyone remotely as delusional and obsessed during all that time.

You don't have to be a fanatic to disagree with someone claiming Roy was prime from 2004 onwards. How does one reconcile losses to Danny Green and Glen Johnson with Jones prior dominance? That seems like a difficult sell.

It would be like Floyd Mayweather losing to Gatti

I don't know how this just occured to me, but this probably happened due to Roid going on an extra insane juice cycle to fight Ruiz. Roid somehow gained near a stone of pure lean muscle ffs. The after effects of the cycle might've ruined his body somewhat. He probably over-roided himself into Roidhala, but was then resurrected with a below glass chin as penance.

Seriously, I'm surprised I've never seen this line of reasoning about Roy's sudden 'post-prime' period before. Interesting that it was also at the time drug tests were finally starting to become enforced on a more consistent basis.

That's true. Maybe if Reluctant Roy had a big jaw like @Loudon he'd be able to take a shot better.

Has anybody really claimed that he was shot overnight?

Also, why would anybody believe that if he’d been using PEDS his entire career, that he’d just suddenly have stopped for his most important fights?

    It’s not logical is it.

Dirty fighters cycle out of competition. Not during camps. They’re still easily passed today, unless someone is careless. And the tests back then were quite basic.

Lance passed hundreds of tests across a ten year period.

You saw the first Tarver fight. He was there for the taking. The rematch saw him take a beautiful shot.

    It was a perfect storm.

Damage from the weight loss. Two back to back knockouts. Fading reflexes. Diminished punch resistance. Lesser confidence. His opponents having far more confidence. Still fighting with his low hands, because he wouldn’t or couldn’t change his style to compensate for his age.

    A culmination of things.

    It’s all deflection anyway.

This thread is looking at Joe’s phoney call outs.

He had the opportunity to fight in America, to raise his profile.

    He didn’t take it.

He said that he feared flying.

He had the opportunity to move up to LHW, and into a potential mandatory position.

    He didn’t take it.

He just continued to fight the Veit’s of the world, whilst claiming that he was being robbed of career defining fights that he was apparently desperate for.

    All complete BS.

He was happy to make 21 defences of his minor title. He even bragged of his number of title defences. Even though that most of his defences were against European level fighters.

Let’s see someone come and refute this.

    So you say.

Yet where have I HATED exactly?

    Nowhere.

    Show me.

Now it’s very simple for you:

Come and try to refute any of what I’ve said.
