Oleksandr Usyk is clearly the best fighter of the 21st century uncontested.

Unwarranted ? The premise of the thread already warrants criticism. Complete disrespect to the Pacquiaos and Inoues for suggesting Usyk is the best boxer of the century uncontested, not even clear of Floyd. This is where half the criticism comes from, a response to the the exaggerated extollation

Did Usyk disrespect Inoue or Pac?

    No??

Then, yes, that line of criticism would be entirely unwarranted.

How fans rate-- or overrate-- Usyk has nothing to do with his ability, character etc and thus whether he's worthy of criticism.

That much should have been obvious...but here we are.

It's beyond comical watching Floyd fans of all people crying baba tears about Usyk fans ''disrespecting'' other greats from previous eras when Floyd himself is literally the poster boy for doing that himself and his fans also being some of the worst culprits. They pooped on these greats who took risks Floyd never would've dared do in million years but one thing we know for sure is that Usyk would've done so at the drop of a hat on a deck heavily stacked against him.

If ''disrespecting'' the greats is something you take issue with Floyd would be the last fighter you'd worship at the altar of and Usyk is the complete antithesis of that. He's so incredibly humble he'd pick them all over himself.

And what could be more disrespectful than fans of walking pharmacy lab creation PED cheats constantly ignoring the fact their idols are artificially enhanced PED cheats when comparing them to Usyk?

And even worse then maliciously accusing Usyk of being a PED cheat just to try and mitigate the fact their idols were cheats. The problem is not overzealous Usyk fans it's you guys.

Yeah it's just downright nasty to maliciously smear Usyk like that given the impeccable character and conduct of the man, hoops. He literally embodies everything that is right, noble and great about the sport and the fact they damn well know this too really does say an awful lot about them.

There's definitely more to this animus than it just being due to his ''annoying fans'' that's for goddamn sure.

It isn't unwarranted when the criticisms are a response to people are making arguments that Usyk is the best of the century above everyone else, which is hilariously inaccurate.

Yet here we are, most criticizing Usyks resume in this thread is exactly that, explaining why Usyk isn't greater than some aforementioned. Or perhaps you're just strawmanning as usual and I just fell for the bait

    Strawmanning as usual?

Kindly forward some examples of my previous "strawmanning." Take your time. I'll wait.

So, to reiterate, your position is that Usyk warrants criticism......because his fans overrate him? Brilliant, totally unimpeachable logic there, my guy.

But I'm feeling charitable, so here's a pro-tip-- if you have an issue with how fans rate Usyk, the logical approach would be to level that criticism at.....wait for it now......his fans. Wow--that'd be a novel approach, huh?

For example, I have had many back-and-forths with Floyd The Best Ever, YO! types, and I have had no trouble separating warranted criticism (ie questioning the judgment of the fans who said as much) without engaging in unwarranted criticism of the fighter (ie ridiculously claiming Floyd was cowardly etc).

However, if you---or anyone else on here for that matter--- are incapable or unwilling to do the same, that's your problem, not mine.

In this thread sure, especially for the historical comparisons, because warrent means to justify, don't overthink it. The position of the thread topic is asking for it. Criticism at its core is mere judgement of qualities, not necessarily disapproval, but that doesn't get through narrow minds

lol. No. It’s a tie for #1 between Mayweather and Pacquaio, #2 is probably Canelo.

don’t get me wrong, Usyk is special. But he does not have the resume of these guys, and he’s too old to develop one.

If someone posts that Usyk isn't a particularly hard puncher for a heavyweight, that's legit, reasonable and warranted criticism. Likewise, it's certainly not unreasonable to question the judgement of those who consider him the best fighter of the 21st Century. But that's a fan, not a fighter, based criticism.

On the other hand, arguing that Usyk "ducks" fighters, "sucks," and only fights opponents who are damaged goods (as a poster on another thread recently did) is not only unwarranted but ridiculous. It also invites speculation about the poster's true motivations.

My remarks to Serge referred to this kind of unwarranted criticism.

All you had to do was ask, my man, and I would have been glad to explain what I meant. Don't shoot from the hip and assume things.

It's the same thing that happened to Loma. In his prime there were unironically people on here calling him the best ever, picking him over Roberto Duran and even Sugar Ray Robinson ffs. Just usual forum recency bias, which I find crazy considering Usyk's career isn't even over yet. It should be no surprise that some people get annoyed by it.

Manny is the best imo.. Floyd was too precious.. & u can't give it to Roy Jones because he lost to Tarver & Johnson .. & moving up & beating huggy Ruiz isn't on a par with moving up & beating Fury, Joshua, Chisora & Dubois.

They hate Loma too and ignore all context when it comes to him.

If you ignore the fact that it's very hard for amateur greats who turned pro a couple of months before turning 26, 27, or even 28.5 y/o in Beterbiev's case to have the same depth as pro greats who turned pro at 16-19 y/o

And you also ignore the fact that had these amateur greats turned pro that young they would have done so at lower or much lower weight classes and would be 3-4 weight champions instead of 2 weight ones, or in Loma's case 6 bare minimum

You do not deserve to be taken remotely seriously and one has to question why so many are so averse to acknowledging such basic common sense

If Loma turned pro at the same age many of his peers did 135 would be at least his 6th weight class, or more if he was a weight bully like many others.

If he turned pro at the same age Manny did he would've turned pro at minimum weight and 135 would be like his 8th-9th weight class and Manny was about 10-12lbs heavier than him

And you cannot also pretend, as these clowns always do, that the bodies of fighters who had 300-400 amateur fights and have spent decades doing gruelling training have not amassed a ton of wear and tear and they are not in their primes in their mid 30s-40

If Usyk who is already one of the oldest HW champion of all time and is ascending up that top 10 ladder fast with each passing month were to get knocked out by a way bigger savage punching KO 95% Dubois at 38.5 y/o in Dubois' backyard on a deck heavily stacked against him these same clowns would crucify him on a molten cross for it which is a standard they hold no other great in history to whilst also claiming he's inferior to them all

Lewis was HL reel one punch sparked out cold and knocked senseless x 2 in the midst of his prime to fighters he was bigger than or roughly the same size as, fighters Usyk would've boxed the ears off, and he's not only a natural HW he's a SHW who was very often the bigger man, not like Usyk a 38.5 y/o natural CW campaigning in a division full of giants truth be told he really doesn't belong in and who none of these clowns gave a shot even back in his prime to become champion in, let alone undisputed and the dominant HW of this era

And that's just one of countless examples
