Any fighters that you can think of who were unlucky to have not fought for a title fight or not won a world title but you can actually see them winning a world title, perhaps even being undisputed, if they fought in today's boxing era?

Personally I think Bennie Briscoe would have cleaned out today's 160 fighters. He would definitely have been a very popular fighter given his fan friendly style.

Loads, and loads and loads - there are five, six ways now for a fighter to name himself champ. Charley Burley, Dave Shade, Ace Hudkins, on and on.

The 4 welterweight kings that never was.
    Gaspar Ortega
    Charley Scott
    Jose Stable
    Gil Turner

While Scott is the least likely to win a title considering he's quite limited, his crisp punching, good infighting and durability should've carried him to a minor title, atleast.

Eduardo Lausse would have had a great shot at snatching a world title.

Turner was the 1st fighter that came to my mind when I saw this topic. The only competition he'd have @ ww rn would be Ennis.

Arturo Godoy, Mauro Mina, Martin Vargas, Juan Carazo, Mario Miranda, Johnny De La Rosa, Pat Cowdell, Ruben Castillo, Kid Azteca, Pajarito Moreno, Floyd Robertson, Tommy Bell, Laurent Dathouillie, Segundo Mercado, Young Stribling, Roberto Rubaldino, Charley Burley, Juan Antonio Lopez, Henry Cooper, Renaldo Snipes, Roland La Starza, Don Cockell, Jimmy Bivins, Lloyd Marshall, Alberto Mercado, Wilfredo Rivera, Tami Mauriello, Mustafa Hamsho, Bob Pastor and Pedro Montanez all come to mind.

In Rivera's case, yes he was in the 4 titles era, but look at the champions in his division then: De La Hoya, Trinidad, Whitaker, Mosley and Vargas. Enough said!

Jake did fight for the Bare Knuckle, London Prize Ring, World Championship, but John L. Sullivan beat him in 75 rounds.

If we treated past champions before the rise of the WBA/C the same way we do post WBC/A champions then plenty of them would be considered champion.

Those no name belt touchers get logged forever. If I ask you was Bermane Stiverne a champion you'll say yeah WBC champion but Wlad was the real champion.

Sam Langford doesn't get this treatment despite owning like five world HW champion titles during his career. You can say because he never got a shot at the man, but Bermane didn't either. You can say the bodies didn't matter but they end up winning the dispute.

Likewise, Holmes and the IBF but Lang ain't enough to CC FBF?

I'm not even saying make him a "real champ" just treat dude like Bermane. He was in fact a world HW champion he just held a minor title or position juxtaposed to the real champion.

Treat him like you do Bermane. Takes not shine off JJ or JD. Just like how Stiverne takes no shine off Klistchko. Martin does not make Wilder look bad, if anything, he helps make an ordinary champ look good.

Just saying not all these dudes need a timemachine. Some are still just waiting for fans to put the same respect on their name they already do lesser champions.

As in not a man here has the neck to claim Stiverne or Martin is greater than Langford.

In this mediocre era of alphabet soup titles, multiple weight categories and shameless cherry picking and ducking even journeymen from the past have a good chance of holding a title.

Anyway, just to name a few cases in the HW division I am 100% convinced Conn, Lyle, Quarry, Machen, Williams, Shavers, etc. manage to be world champions at some point even if briefly.

Heck, my man Kenny Norton probably would be a multiple titles holder, same as Archie Moore, Langford and Walcott.
