I think Jack Johnson would go crazy trying to figure out THE fastest boxer ever.

In a 12 round fight, probably Johnson though its hard to tell how good Johnson was from film.

I can see Roy beating Marciano in a 12 round fight but not 15. Jones kept his hands low and even though his amazing reflexes allowed him to keep low hands and dodge punches, Marciano threw with such power and extreme volume that he only needs to land one big right hand and its nighty night. I think Marciano tops RJJ in 15 but loses in 12.

So my answer is, based on the fighters whom we can accurately judge on film (Dempsey onwards), Marciano followed by Dempsey in a 12 round fight. Although i think he probably loses to both Marciano and Dempsey over 15 rounds.

I can't see him beating Tyson or peak Frazier even over 12. Tyson's combination of speed and power is too much and Frazier is too good at cutting the ring.

Tunney gets extraordinary traction out of his wins over Dempsey. I've seen him in quite a few top 10's, namely Atlas's this week. Jones wouldn't have to come in at 193, he'd be able to come in at a comfortable weight as Tunney's not that big himself. Jones would hardly be out of his element for mine. I'd take him over Corbett if one considers him an ATG.

Johnson was too big, too strong and too clever for Roy imo.

We can guess that Jack didn’t have as fast hands as Roy but per many accounts and available film, Johnson still had lightning fast fists and excellent, intuitive reflexes.

I’ve always said, hand picked John Ruiz has a LOT to answer for in so far as his awful performance inexplicably elevating Jones’ chances against certain past HW ATGs.

I agree with the previous poster. Ruiz was a hand picked opponent. Jones was no heavyweight. With limited mobility and a glass chin, I do not see him doing well at heavyweight.

Jones is ahead of his skis against ANY truly elite heavyweight.

I'm not an RJJ fan and have never gotten the hype, I have not watched a lot of him but I remember seeing a fight of his maybe just some clips of it where his "speed" was a lot of pathetic looking arm punches, like none of it had the power to really bother any true ATG, they certainly did not seem like damaging blows

    TBH, most of them.

Roy would have really shined in times prior that allowed for his natural size to fight anyone.

175ish Roy at HW does better than the 190+ Roy we got.

Also, y'all still underrate John Ruiz for no good reason. While you tell me Wlad was skilled doe ... ... ... Like John isn't the better clinchman with the better resume.

I'd favor 160s-170s over some names. John L - Braddock with the only men not being easy work being like Tunney, Langford, maybe Dempsey, maybe Johnson, but I favor Roy across the board.

Louis is the GOAT. Favor Louis. Don't feel a need to explain but I will if asked.

Charles, Moore, Walcott, Marciano, and Patterson probably give Roy a harder time than fans here expect. Dunno why you guys gush over 20s fighters and ignore the actual real pioneers of all the techniques you love. Yes, Tunney looks something like a modern fighter at times. Good for Tunney. Walcott's got the biggest bag of tricks boxing has ever seen. It bridges BK and QB beautifully and explains how a man who had no real advantages became HW champion of the world. He always, they always, look like modern fighters. Because they were ****ing good bro. Archie Moore got that sick ass record by being dope brah.

Ingo and Sonny are Roy's fights. Not that those dudes are bad just that they're fighting a mongoose who ain't even old.

Ali is also the GOAT. Favor to The Greatest.

Frazier is rough but I do honestly believe RJJ makes a fool of Foreman

Ellis, Spinks, Norton, Roy's going to skate around them.

I don't see Larry Holmes having a hope in hell TBH

Dokes and Weaver and such like that, Tim Witherspoon, Tony Tucker, and Buster D are criminally underrated and fought at a hard time. If they ain't one of those three they ain't beating Roy and even if they ard I'd bet on Hook.

Tyson, Evander, Lewis, dudes if one of these jamooks was all three they'd be GOAT. I call them GOAT level but really I do favor Ali and Louis over them. Them over Roy though, tbc.

Roy over all the K2 - Fury

    Usyk over Roy.

But Roy was forced to be 190+ and fight 12 rounds so we got John Ruiz. Not bad really. Should be respected more than he is.

"I can't see him beating Tyson or peak Frazier even over 12"

Does this even need to be said lol. Roy doesn't beat any ATG career heavyweight, and loses to the cruiserweight turned Heavyweights as well. Could beat the Floyd Patterson and Ezzard Charles's of the world though.

Sonny Liston and George Foreman would leave RJJ twitching spasmodically on the canvas. I mean, get real.

I recommend you watch more of Jones. You seem terribly ill-informed. His speed was ATG.

I’m going to keep it real and keep Jones in his best division. At 175 he’d have a “ chance “ at taking Michael Spinks. Not saying I’d favor him to do it.. just giving him a shot at it

Pretty sure I put up parameters that'd make you cry even more than simply saying Roy over Sonny.

    175 Roy > Sonny

    175 Roy over George

But then again you back yourself with emotion so bet you're dead on
