Greatness of Joe Frazier

Marciano had his nose split open by ezzard charles was blinded by walcott in the first fight and still went on to win both fights. Frazier got up 6 times against foreman and took a hellacious beating from Ali and fought half blind. I'd say they're both relative in terms of toughness. Either way let's stop talking Marciano I know the other guy brought it up but this is a thread discussing the greatness of Frazier.

 

Let's be real Frazier has a good resume. He fought a good range of styles as well.

 

Marciano's eye difficulties in the first Walcott fight were due to panic in his own corner they applied liniment to a cut on his head, and then hit his face with the sponge.
Freddie Brown sorted it by applying cold water pads to the eyes.

 

I totally agree. McGrain was actually sticking up for Frazier and he's the mod for this side of the forums. It's not often he gets a directive lol. I couldn't find the popcorn emoji.

 

Judging by his laughable comments on here and the fact that he hasn't seen Frazier's fights with Bugner, Ali in Thrilla, nor the Quarry and Ellis rematches (if he did, he'd know how idiotic he sounds when he says Frazier was done after FOTC), call me crazy but I'm starting to doubt this guy's seen a picture of Frazier, let alone a fight.

 

Fair enough that's my mistake. My point still stands that he fought blind in that fight and pushed through it.

I know I was trying to steer the conversation back to Frazier. Speaking of one think Fraizer isn't given enough credit for is his punching power. He dropped his fair share of large heavyweights I.e Joe bugner, Ali as well.

 

For sure.. Like Ray Leonard or Oscar, when the record isn't filled with bums, greatness can be achieved in relatively few fights.

 

I had no problem with your points. I also totally agree Fraziers punching power has become a bit underrated. I said it myself just the other day.

By all means pump Frazier up on his greatness thread. You'll be well supported.

 

Definitely, at one point prior to the 15th in their first fight, Frazier had Ali extremely hurt, too. Often forgotten part of that fight.

 

He had Ali in terrible condition in the 11th. Ali was hurt real bad.

 

Yeah, I thought it was the 11th or 12th. Should've been a 10-8 imo.

 

It's the most hurt you will see post title Ali. He was in trouble.

 

When I scored the fight last time I actually gave Frazier 2 point round in the 11th round. But with the scoring system they had in the fight correct me if I'm wrong but it wasn't the 10 point must system ? So even when Frazier knocked Ali down he didn't get extra credit for it.

I actually wanted to use the popcorn emoji myself the other day but couldn’t find it also - so I had to literally type - “Give me a moment while I grab some popcorn” - the emoji would’ve been so much better.
