Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach 2 set for August 16

Roach will need a KO just to get a draw.

 

Roach did more than enough to win the first fight. I had him winning 8-4. He took Tank's best shots and countered them with combinations. He applied pressure and didn't get careless even when he found success after a clean connection. Tank had zero answers beyond his power saving him from being outboxed like it has in the past. I understand Roach is still the underdog in the rematch, but truthfully the questions should be directed at Tank and Tank only. Can he showcase that he is able to control the action from round to round rather than allowing his opponent to get in rhythm and touch him early and often. As we can see, not everyone will bow down to his power. Roach had the remedy for it.

 

I hope they have a better referee this time.

 

See, that's the thing. They didn't have a terrible referee. Steve Willis is one of the best in the game. A future HOFer ref at the end of his career. If you look at the fights he was in the ring for throughout his career, you'd see how well he protects the fighters and keeps both fighters within the rules of engagement, which is why it's just puzzling that he allowed Tank to bend the rule like he did.

Has anyone interview him since this fight. I would really like to hear his vantage point of what happened in the ring.

 

If Roach can get a fair shake of the sauce bottle he can win this.

You have evidence of this or is this just you begging for attention with an ignorant claim to defame an honorable man? Steve Willis deserves an opportunity to say what he saw and why he allowed what he did. Too many kids with a WiFi connection just get online and say anything without any facts to base their comments on.

 

Evidence? Yeah. He was paid. Paid by the promoter. Boxing is a dirty sport, always has been. Refs are not exempt from this. He literally started a count, then stopped, and let Stank do what ever he wanted because he had to protect the house money.
Honorable man? My guy, you don't even know him, fanboy. Don't get your panties in a wad, stop with the ad hominems, and stop protecting blatant corruption and biased officiating.

 

Let's hope Tank is falling into that classic trap of thinking he should correct the record after a lucky draw, only to get brutally dominated in the rematch...

It's amusing in a way how guys with manufactured records can sometimes suffer from major ego injuries when they get beaten (unofficially or officially) and aren't smart enough to keep running the way they built their entire reputations.

 

Great thing there will be a rematch, it's right given the referee's mistake that penalized Roach. He has a difficult style for Davis but Gervonta now has to prove he's a champion and win convincingly, and I think he'll do it this time. I say Davis by stoppage after 6 rounds (let's hope for an interesting undercard).

 

I wasent referring to his resume but more towards his refereeing for the last fight with roach and davis.
He is obviously bias towards davis.

 

You said all of that to showcase you don't know a damn thing. Clown. Stop getting emotional. Stick to something you actual know about. No I don't 'know' Steve Willis on a personal level, but I've met him a few times during my time as a competitor and he is a stand up individual from what I gather and anyone who's come across him will say the same.

Work on your comprehension boy. No where was I defending the corruption in the sport. I simply was checking to see if your goofy a..... knew some facts or were you just doing what the rest of these clowns do when they get a WiFi connection. Just talking to see if some strangers give you a "LIKE"......

What Tank did was crazy and he definitely should have been either gotten a standing 8 count, lost a point, and/or been DQ for going to his corner. Many of us are shocked that Steve Willis of all refs allowed it to happen and because of his character, we would like to hear what his version of what happen was instead of being ignorant like you and just chanting stuff in a chat room without knowledge of a damn thing.

 

Hidden gems youtube channel made a video about the previous fight, analysing roaches game plan to revolve around a tell of gervonta davis where his probability of throwing the hook would change depending on the height of his guard.

Now I did not rewatch the fight after that but if it's true and relevant to roaches fight in a big way and the davis Camp probably figure it out, too - that could make for a joe louis - max schmeling 2 revenge story.

But possibly roach still outfights him. Who knows. Maybe davis gets hair grease in his eyes and consults his corner, ignoring the referee and matter-of-factly explains that after the fight as if it was the most normal thing in the world, not understanding why the audience boos him.
