[PRIME] George Foreman vs [PRIME] Evander Holyfield

I like george in this fight by stoppage
George had some underrated, sneaky skills that gets overlooked

Be tough though

 

Holyfield does an Ali/Jimmy Young on any version of Foreman.

 

Holyfield was very sneaky and versatile. Foreman in his prime could get outboxed and Holyfield was better than Jimmy Young.

I'd back Holyfield if he outboxes Foreman and stays on the backfoot using his footwork which I think he would if this fight had actually happened. If Holyfield tries to slug it out with prime George then Holyfield is going to sleep.

 

Evander couldn't put away a 42 year old Foreman, he gets clobbered my George

 

If Holyfield boxed Foreman he would win a wide UD on points. He might even knock Foreman out late as Foreman pressed too hard and gassed. Holyfield is simply a far better boxer than Foreman.

However, what made Holyfield a great watch is that he'd make a slugfest out of it even when he could just box and win. I'd favour Foreman in a shootout because he was the naturally bigger man with a better chin and a bigger punch. Not to say that Holyfield couldn't win a punch up with Foreman but you'd have to favour George.

Overall, it's up to Holy: if he fights smart, he wins, and if he charges in, he probably loses.

 

Holyfield might lose. Evan Fields would win though.
Foreman is pretty bad. Also Ali KO'd him, wtf. But then again Holyfield got KO'd by a MW.
Great fighters, be super dominant in this weak era.

 

RIP Big George, but I think Holyfields chin and engine would have always posed him problems. Holyfield by decision imo.

 

Foreman wins the first encounter realistically Holyfield would only be on his toes in a rematch after getting stopped....

 

Not as a defensive boxer he’s not. He got badly hurt against an old foreman. You think he’d have an easier time avoiding a much busier, faster one?

 

Holyfield has the tools to do it and the durability/recovery to handle getting caught here and there. That said, if he approached that fight like he approached their actual fight, he'd end up knocked out. No center ring brawls. He's got to fight defensively, tire Foreman out.

 

Foreman is stronger physically and might be able to bully Holyfield around in there a bit. With Evanders tendencies to get into brawls like he does I feel Foreman landing something big out of nowhere and getting to Holy for the KO.

 

If Jimmy Young could then Holyfield could. But it depends what fight Holyfield decides to box, if he fights off the backfoot I'd back Holyfield but if he tries to attack Young George on the frontfoot, it would be a recipe for disaster.

Holyfield has beaten a lot of good fighters fighting on the backfoot too?

 

Almost the same size, Evander has the better engine, the better recuperative powers and he feasts on young George's self belief. Those wide swinging 'hail marys' are manna from heaven for a fighter so composed with his head in the other man's chest. Evander wins by clear points decision over 12, stops George over 15.
