I'm not disputing it but we do have to put some respect on Dave Allen's power he's stopped 19 of his 24 victims and only about 1/3 of his fights have been scheduled 10 or 12 rounders. 21 of them were 4, 6 or 8 rounders And he trains at the chippy (fish and chip shop)
I'm not a fan of Fisher, but staying as neutral as I can and trying to put Fisher's welfare as the most important thing, I think Fisher should definitely retire. If he fights on and tries to go past British level (and I'm not even sure he compete at British level), further punishment, ungracious KO losses, and CTE awaits him. He is an intelligent guy and could probably succeed in another field if he put his mind to it; risking a lifetime of brain damage for a career that will never surpass domestic level is not worth it.
Fisher clearly doesn't have good whiskers, but at least he didn't get knocked down by Dustin Nichols or Harold Sconiers!
I don't think his chin is *that* bad, he just had horrible defense, no head movement, and Allen simply hits hard. He just couldn't get out of the way of any of Allen's shots.
Fisher looks good when he can walk forward, box on the front foot and use his natural power and strength. I agree he looks like he has a poor chin given how nervous even those early overhands from Allen made him look. But the bigger issue for me is how awkward he looks going backwards; his feet just don't move him out of the way quickly enough, he doesn't create angles for counters, and when he does try and counter his timing appears wrong and experienced boxers like Allen can take advantage of this. These are all symptomatic of a fighter with no amateur background, who took up the sport late. He could hang around the domestic scene and make decent money for a long time to come if he wants. Allen isn't a world level fighter but he does have a world level chin and there will be softer guys out there who Fisher can probably bang out tbh. Could he pick up a British title? With a bit of luck yes. There are ex-top level guys in Britain who are well on the decline. He'd be the underdog of course but would anyone be that surprised if Fisher sparked out this current version of Whyte if given the opportunity? Or Frazier Clarke perhaps who was never top level to begin with as a pro but has already been sparked out by a hard-hitting novice in Wardley? Point being, if you can hit hard as a heavy and you catch an opponent at the wrong time in their career then you can fluke a title 100%. We don't know who might hold belts in 4 or 5 years time and Fisher could definitely iron out a declined big domestic name if given the chance and, if they happen to have a belt then Bob's your uncle. I'd give him a better chance against either of the aforementioned than I would in a rematch with Allen who is ostensibly lower in the rankings. As for Allen, I think he is an example of wasted potential. He is a smart boxer, he has a great chin, he can hit reasonably hard particularly early in a fight, but he has historically lacked discipline, had a poor mentallity, personal demons, he's a fat ******* etc We've seen perhaps the best version of himself in these two fights where he has had a good camp both times and been in a good state of mind. This version of him could beat some big-ish names if matched carefully: a feather fist like Otto Wallin I imagine would seriously struggle keep Allen away and he's coming off the back of 2 losses in his last 3. I don't see Allen beating David Adelayi, I don't think, which is a bit of a problem for Allen progression-wise because he might be the most logical next step up on the domestic scene it'd be a good fight though. That or Frazier Clarke, I would back Allen there. Hopefully, he can make up for some lost time. Up the White Rhino.
Reminded me a bit of Davey Boy Price in there last night. Comical lack of punch resistance, comical inability to defend himself when hurt. Chin in the air like you just don’t care. And Allen who for the first time in his life trained for a fight was able to go through the gears and finish the job. Fisher is certified Grade A Bone China. Way Below average for a British level HW.
