The Canelo who fought Mayweather was physically much better than the current Canelo (and P4P, a more formidable foe for Mayweather). I don't care if he added more layers to his game and the obvious experience factor - he's simply not showing those ripples lately. His explosiveness and speed has diminished, he's even slower on his feet, he doesn't counter as well as he once did, and he doesn't throw in combination much anymore. Watching his old highlights next to the Scull ones makes this abundantly apparent. He's past-it.

That said, he's a fucking tank at 168 and welterweight Mayweather wouldn't put a single dent in him. So Canelo may just walk him down, blast away, and make Mayweather more reluctant to mount much of an effective offense. Honestly an interesting question.

He’d win just as easily and they’d say Canelo was past prime. Easiest call I’ve ever made.

Canelo's has got lead in his boots at this stage. Floyd's ability to snipe with single hard shots and avoid the return fire, would still see him win.

Lmao if it was so easy for Mayweather to beat him at any weight then why was he so bothered about 2lbs? Canelos prime was MW to SMW..

agree here. The only way in which Floyd is overrated is if you say he’s the best ever. He’s not. Is he ONE OF the best to ever lace them up? Yeah, he is.

the way their fight went, that 2lbs would have meant jack ****. Even 10lbs wouldn’t have. Canelo was way too green to compete, it turned out.

Mayweather isn't taking the power now. We just have to look at the fights against Smith and Saunders where Canelo is hurling big shots and beating them up and both were considered very tough for their divisions.
Canelo basically beat Smith's arm to a pulp.
Obviously broke Saunder's face with one punch.
Mayweather fought a drained Canelo who 'wasn't ready for MW'.
After Canelo was 'ready for MW' he was completely different.
How he 'got ready' for MW+ everyone knows.

Anyone who followed GGG knew that he generally just went after people and only boxed carefully when he was wary of their power. Basically that was just Stevens and Lemieux until he fought Canelo. The second Canelo fight where Golovkin wouldn't brawl him even when his coach told him to was good evidence that Canelo by then had become a dangerous puncher. This was the guy who couldn't hurt Cotto. But now Golovkin is boxing him.

After that he'd go on to do ridiculous things like KO Kovalev even easier than someone the size of the afro Alvarez and bust up all these tough guys at 168.

lol! Floyd has lost plenty of rounds to other fighters before, Bud is far better than most of the fighters on Floyd`s record, Bud is one of the best fighters in the last ten years, what are you talking about?

Current Canelo is too big and strong for that version of Mayweather

But you're favoring Crawford to beat Canelo?

Bud has a bit more reach than Floyd and a lot more power, also his switch-hitting will confuse Canelo.

Floyd can switch as well and is a better defensive fighter, can fight at all ranges, has a better chin, and a better ring IQ

Canelo is still younger than Golovkin was for their first fight.
