You know what, I would love to see guys like fisher or joshua make the transition to mma.

Been waiting a long time to see a genuine heavyweight go over there & expose that fraudulent sport - not out of shape fossils looking for the bag (toney).

Fisher & AJ with 4 oz gloves would have barbaric power

 

Joshua should be decent after a takedown as well with his prior experience crawling on the canvas.

 

Wow. I might be a little bit bias but isn't that like comparing cricket and baseball, rugby and American Football, Tennis and badminton? Different sports that require similar characteristics. If a boxer catches a grappler he'll likely knock him out. But if the grappler closes the distance? Well, it's a different ending, isn't it?

 

Sounds like Okolie has picked the wrong sport being quite good at punching and excellent at grappling.

At his age he can regroup I just don't think Hearn is the guy to do that with

Go back to the Price fight and how many were ripping in to Allen (is imagine I was included)
Boxing is a funny old sport and who knows what's around the corner
Retirement would be silly

 

We certainly agree on the opinion that Hearn is no good for him. If Jonny is to continue he will need regular fights on small hall shows, boxing against a variety of opponents. What he doesn’t need is a careless promoter who is far too brave with his stable. The man put Crolla in with Loma for gods sake which ended in another nasty face plant kayo.

 

Warren's team would rebuild much better I'd imagine but it'll never happen

I agree with you in that a domestic career is nothing to be ashamed of. I just feel in terms of clout and the purse he can command, he has probably peaked and things are only going to get harder from here. Fisher is obviously intelligent and could do well outside of boxing, but again you are probably right the money still on the table from boxing is more he could earn elsewhere; however on the flipside that money invariably comes with a cost to ones health. It is not my business to tell another man what to do; if he passionate about fighting and truly wants to return to the ring then he should do so. I was just saying if I was in Fisher's position I would consider walking away, but my opinion is irrelevant. Whatever Fisher decides from here, I hope it works out for him.

 

He should go on the dole.

 

It's a shame his power hasn't been able to get him through a more durable step up opponent like Allen. Despite being very durable, he didn't seem to trouble Allen enough over the two fights. Maybe needs to work on his punch selection and setting up his power shots, ironically like what Allen did to him in their second fight.

 

Tbh I think he could do worse than spend time in the gym with Dave Allen and work closely with him learning the subtle things like how to work in close, grab and in general the uglier side of the sport that doesn't get taught on bags/pads etc These are things that Fisher has quite clearly not learnt yet that could have helped him last week vs Allen but the extra experience and know how from Allen showed in both fights imo

Apparently Tibbs advised him that he needed three or four matches before facing Allen again.
