Me, too! I think, if coming up in Sonny's time, Harry Wills has a great chance of going through Liston's record, with wins (including Marty Marshall), through the second Patterson fight. Then Muhammad Ali gets him.

To be fair he beat the best of an era, and that is all a champ can do. It is true that his six best wins, especially Patterson, Patterson, Machen and Foley, would be cruisers these days, with even Cleve' probably sliming down, but they all have their own legacy, with a certain respect attached to every name.

Yup. My apologies for taking you to seriously. Don't ever know when you're serious or (pretending to) play devil's advocate. You posted this garbage also under the guise of it merely being in jest.
Before revealing, those were your actual feelings.
Given your track record, smart money is on you posting the same thing in the future quietly removing the "literal pile of smileys", just like you removed the "If somebody wanted to be unfair to the 70s," and finally cut the crap, and admitted the garbage you were peddling was actually your view, and stopped hiding behind your devil's advocate malarkey.

Not a big John Ruz basher here-I respect his talent and admire him as a champion. But he'd be a solid pick to be among the worst that can beat that crop except maybe for Patterson. Pat was a great champion and would have outboxed Ruiz.

It’s my thread, I’ll do whatever tf I want lol and that includes if it strikes me making posts about Hagler and Duran tag teaming Valuev. Listons opposition (title run and champion dethroned) was soft, unremarkable and could be beaten by plenty of guys.

That would be his toughest matchup--and Lyle definitely had trouble with slicksters (Jimmy Young a prime example.) But I still think he would have a chance to pull it off if he could somehow land a couple heavy shots early on and go from there.

Isaac Perrins would be interesting even tho there’s literally zero way of predicting how well he’d adapt to the time period. Just being a big strong ass mf as he was always has its percs and he had a formidable jab, comparable to Liston

A lot of it was boxing politics and a rightful steroid ban. He could’ve won that belt instead of Charles Martin and it could’ve been a “three kings” division until Fury became relevant again. I think he would’ve been about a coin flip against green versions of Wilder and Joshua. They’d have to agree to fight him though. Parker wouldn’t have beaten him. I assume Fury at his best would get it done.

Most the top ten of any month from 1991 on could replicate Marciano's run.

    You know this is fair.

Luis Ortiz's interim belt I recognize and Martins belt I don't.

No more 10 and 12 page threads. We're going the old distance. Yee haw.

Let's have it in a theatre for 72 rounds. Let's go real old school.

If we go 61 pages the last 30 something rounds will all be fluff.
