I don't know. Hagler, prepared or not, would not have been used to fighting a guy who would stand there and slug it out with him.

I am sure others must have said this, but b4 I read all the other replies, I do not think Hagler was ever really hurt by Hearns.
Shook up for several seconds & immediately bulling ahead with high volume power punches is not hurt.

I don't think he would have had to, he would have countered more and had more legs. He was really flat that night in March of 1986.

I agree. Hagler was the perfect fighting machine. I just think that the lack of familiarity of it could take a couple additional rounds to what he was used to. Not that he would be any less dominant.

Sibson hurt Hagler with a left hook from recollection. Hagler mentioned it many years ago.

Stopping momentarily in your tracks & immediately blazing away & overpowering your opponent is not hurt.
Hagler was not more than mildly stunned.

Didn't Briscoe hit Hagler the hardest?

I don’t think Hearns actually “rocked” Marvin he looked slightly uncomfortable if anything and proceeded to march forward and put a beating on him.

I had read he said Eugene "cyclone" Hart as the hardest puncher he ever fought, he fought some serious punchers in his career, Briscoe, Hart, Sibson, Roldan, Hearns, Mugabi

After the Mugabi fight, in the post fight interview Hagler said that this fight might be his last. I think the fight took the best of both of them. Mugabi never fought that well again, and Hagler lost something as well.

I rewatched it last weekend. Mugabi wasn't winning the rounds but he was landing some bombs. There were several uppercuts that looked like they would fell just about any middleweight.

I'm surprised that Cyclone Hart hasn't come up. That's probably the most hurt I've ever seen Hagler.

It was a crazy tough fight and both were beasts that night. At the time i didn't really understand what Sugar Ray was seeing as vulnerabilities in Hagler, but elite boxers know what they are seeing.

Cyclone. I believe Hagler has credited Eugene Hart as the hardest hitter he ever faced.
