Would gladly see it. Not a hill on this thread I would die on.

Jennings doesn't go much beyond smothering with the high guard and throwing leather. No inside game was an overstatement, I apologize abuelo Luis for that accusation. He clearly knows how to look for punching space and can cut the smothering high guard good if given time.

For the sake of some sort of integrity I'll give hus entire available footage a rewatch.

Last of the old guard, you can imagine Dempsey or Louis facing Liston - not so much with Ali.* He seemed to spend his entire life not quite in his right time or place.

*This uh, may be an artefact of colour television.

Cross sometimes says Liston is an "old school" big HW a sort of lumbering unathletic mastiff type. He fought like and had the speed of someone who was carrying too much extra weight when I watch him.

Interesting post but can't we do this with Jack Johnson';s title opposition, Dempsey's , Joe Louis' , Marciano's too ?

The Harry Wills parallel that IIRC @Melankomas drew in this thread made a lot of sense, IMO.

Might be a little harder with Louis's. Not because it's great quality individually, but because there's just so much of it. Could you swap Liston out with Louis and get a run of only one loss from his lead up to the title until he vacated it? Not so sure.

    For the others, yes.
