Marciano made a career out of beating clever boxers, using brute force and ignorance. He did it far too many times to bet against him. However if such a boxer is ever going to do it, then Tunney might just be the man. So I go with Marciano, but I expect a good fight.
Tunney would outbox him until Marciano got some main protagonist like flashback and clips him with his overhand right.
Tunney would slash Marciano to ribbons but I don’t think he had the firepower to stop Marciano from coming at him, and something tells me Gene is going to get tagged and go night night.
Tunney was from an earlier era but still think if he could beat Dempsey he’s probably going to survive against Rocky and score enough points to win.
I lean slightly to Marciano catching up with Tunney late on,but I wouldn't be surprised if Tunney won a decision,he had the wheels and he hit hard enough and accurately enough to cut Rocky up significantly.
The safe pick here is Marciano, he always dug out the win against great boxers, ones he was thought to lose, he was able to grind them down, axe them and stop them, he’d just keep going, forcing them to work harder than they want, he’d trust the plan and it would work. I also don’t think Tunney can keep him off, not saying he can’t punch, I just don’t think he punches hard enough to do so.

I think it would be very similar to the first Marciano-Walcott fight. Tunney would pile up points and lead comfortably on the cards but Marciano would land "Suzie-Q" in the championship rounds and score a late KO--(13th-14th round.)
I think it's a great , great fight .... Tunney may simply have had too much speed and conditioning but over 125 Rocky was a beast ... if Tunney didn't badly cut Rocky it was going long and who knows ... ?
I do not see Gene Tunney beating a prime Rocky Marciano, nor do I see Gene Tunney beating a prime Jack Dempsey. Dempsey's ghostly shell nearly knocked Tunney out. Marciano would wear Tunney down, in my opinion.
