A prime Langford could have stayed at 160 - 168 for most of his career ... he moved up because of money ...he flattened men who today would;d have been top cruiserweight and small heavyweights up to 220 pound range ... no one hit like him ..,,. Johnson said it, Wills said it, Jim Flynn said it, Gunboat said it, Jeanette said ti and McVey said it ... he was the hardest hitting p4p on record and I sincerely doubt Marciano or Dempsey hit harder single shot.

Rocky is really close to be disqualified. The man often weighed 189 and honestly he looked bigger. His weight was often a marketing ploy. Carlos Zarate was a killer as bantamweight. Hearns as a 147-154 fighter is my choice.

Dempsey was not under 190 and most likely not even 190.

147/154 pound Hearns was the most devastating puncher in boxing history for any one weight devision.

If Langford were around today he wouldn't be heavyweight. With weight cutting, he'd be at 168. So he'd be fighting Canelo and Benavidez.

    It's Langford or Fitz imo.

Jones and McClellan are the hardest sub ,190 modern punchers imo.

    Jackson P4P

I'm not sure that's true in fact. Even in his own era, Langford turned pro at lightweight. I'm not sure he could get much below that, but he'd fight for his first title at either 140 or 147. Would he necessarily fight his way up to 168? That would be his fifth weight class. You're getting into "is the right fight available?" territory.

Cheers gents. Based on this thread, i guess we can do a top 10 in no order:

    Sam Langford
    Rocky Marciano
    Jack Dempsey
    Adonis Stevenson
    Bob Fitzimmons
    Darnell Wilson
    Bob Foster
    Henry Cooper
    Artur Beterbiev
    Roy Jones Jr

Not P4P. Just in terms of actual power.

At this time you could fight at HW weighing anything and Langford won his HW belt weighing 158 pounds. Langford bulking up was a purely personal decision.

I mentioned Henry Cooper. I was wondering if people would consider him a good hounourable mention. Maybe not the absolute hardest but man he could crack.
