Was Jose Senior a former fighter? I didn't know that. I heard about his health struggles, it goes quite a way back - to the peak of Leo Santa Cruz's career as a fighter. RIP, seemed like a very classy person all around.
Please note: this ISN'T the same guy that got robbed against El Cepillo. José Armando Santa Cruz who fought Casamayor is LSC's brother and is like my age, and alive and well still. José Sr. is their dad, and the one that passed away. AFAIK he has been a coach for decades (including for all four fighter sons) but I'm not sure he competed himself at any point.
