https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/1...on-raises-alarms-casting-a-shadow-on-victory/ Hang on a minute somethings fishy..... a small man like Haney put on over 25 pounds in a day ?????? Can someone explain what's going on here ?????
This is why Loma was kind of dumb fighting these huge drainers. To put into perspective how cowardly these drainers are: Golovkin cut 10lbs or so at 160. So he was only 5lbs heavier in the ring than this haney clown.
Sure. Some men have the strong will to dehydrate themselves right into the "this guy needs fluids soon or he's going to die of dehydration" level. And some men who have the will also have biology that allows them to get away with performing at a high level athletically after this level of dehydration and rehydration. Haney is one such man. Simple as that. If you CAN do it, and if you can perform after doing it, it's a huge advantage. Some men can't or won't. Floyd Mayweather didn't do it. In his case, there's no way it was a lack of willpower, so he either refused to out of health concerns or had tried it and found that he couldn't perform at his peak after.
Haney isn't small. He walks around 160lbs and I remember a few years ago, he ran into Crawford both looked very similar sized.
Stuff like this is not exactly common, and when it occurs it's been MMA mostly in fairness. Differences of above 25lbs have occurred there before. It's the recovery science. It makes things that shouldn't seem possible, possible.
He's aware of his physical limitations so he tries to stack up any advantages he can get. The fact that this type of stuff is still allowed in an already dangerous sport is ridiculous.
