    I think we can also say Jose Luis Ramirez vs Edwin Rosario in their second go.

    And I’d add Ray Mancini vs. JL Ramirez. Jose Luis is the bigger banger here but Ray smothered and swarmed him and never let him get off.

    Ray Leonard surely neutralized Marvin Hagler. Maybe even neutered him.

    Neutered is the right word and that dastardly Mr Leonard that reptilian man, lizard king follower, snake demon! really GOT him by including him in a retirement party one time and sparring hard before a fight! If only he had some honour Hagler would’ve ruled for a thousand years.

    Whilst I can buy Tua being capable of exerting more force punching a static object, in your hypothetical scenario it's irrelevant, the outcome would be the same.

    He was a good, underrated puncher, but never a big one. Sort of like Ali. Plus, he started hitting harder once he conveniently started to "bulk" up.

    That's a good pick. Although i don't think Mercer neutralized Morrison. More like ate his best punches and wore him down.

    When I see neutralize, I automatically think of a counter-puncher. Some examples of a good counter puncher getting the better of a big banger might be:

    Jerry Quarry v Ron Lyle and Mac Foster
    Lou Nova v Max Baer 1 and 2
    Salvador Sanchez v Danny Lopez 1 and 2
    James Toney v Iran Barkley
    Marlon Starling v Lloyd Honeyghan
    Jose Gonzalez v Florentino Fernandez (although I don’t believe it was a case of Gonzalez countering as it was a case of him working Fernandez’ body)
