Maybe it was fair to wave off. But unless both fighters are British the ref shouldn't be. Nobody can tell me he wouldn't have given Wardley a chance to collect his marbles.

Huni looked the business right up until he got knocked out. Clearly has pillow fists though and that's a problem in this division. He can come again though, I'd watch him again for sure

Going forward with Wardley they just need to keep him away from skilful boxers. Keep him with the likes of Miller, Zhang etc who are more basic fighters and then try and get a shot at Dubois in a year or 2 if he has belts.

As I said in another post. Probably right but deserved the chance given he was winning handily. If he’d have been down and needing a ko I’d totally agree. We’ve seen it time and again people getting through a **** storm and winning. That’s the point of any sport, particularly this one. He wasn’t given the chance as Wardley is the home fighter and there is money to be made on him. Do you think if Wardley got up in the same trouble and was incredibly far ahead on the cards with 2 left he’d have been given the chance? I’d have had no issue if the ref stopped it after after 5 more seconds, 1 more shot if he looked just as wobbly. I know one shot can kill someone but it’s very unlikely Wardley would have landed clean in the next couple of seconds whilst the ref has a look. The sport needs to be very careful, nobody is interested in it really, the boom is gone and while I really hate refs who leave it too long, like they do when the fighter who has the most money to be made on him is hurt, I do think the stoppages have gone too early on the whole lately, a bit earlier than the better too early than too late point.

The cards were spot on. 1 was 8-1 and 2 were 7-2 Huni. The fight was **** to score though

it was excellent refereeing, Huni was up at nine or ten and was in no position to continue. The referee, who in my view is excellent and I look forward to seeing him again in more big heavyweight bouts, did a sterling job at protecting a young man from a career ending beating at the hands of an absolute nutter in Wardley who wouldn't have thought twice about putting another massive blow on the button, and then no doubt another one or two huge blows as Huni falls to the canvas unable to defend himself. The referee may have saved his life.

There nothing bold about having a pair of functioning eyes, Huni is clearly a better boxer than wardley on the basis he was boxing his head off most of the night.

Fury had neither power or a chin either and he didnt do badly.

To do well in boxing you generally need to be a good boxer first and foremost and if you arent you better have a good chin and power. Thats the reason we see guys like usyk and fury at the top and the guys like joyce, wilder, parker, wardley etc as also rans. In fact history shows you the best hw fighters are the ones who are generally the best boxers over the guys who can just take a shot and punch.

There's a lot to dislike about football crowds but the worst thing is that they're so fickle / clearly just there for a night on the packet with the boys - soon as their guy loses you'll be lucky to see half of them at the next fight. Look at Warrington.

Not a chance in hell that ref was stopping that if the roles were reversed

I've seen worse over the years but it was definitely taking advantage of the earliest opportunity to register a Fabio win with defeat looming

That's what I thought at first but having watched it back he was still on his knee at 9 so he was counted out. There was no case for him having time to recover.
