And Tyson won a title and took a bunch of good scalps in his second year without getting dropped.

Tyson stood up to Ruddock twice. It should've been a stylistic nightmare.

Yeah, because he was fighting buster Douglas. He still got hit just as often as Frazier did, if not more so. And Frazier wasn’t at his best condition when he fought foreman either.
when Frazier had all of 11 fights. How many fights did tyson have before he fought someone dangerous?

Foreman was not a good ring general - being a good "ring general" is making other fight your fight, it didn't show up against Ali or Young? Frazier isn't a case of a "ring general" he would only fight one way lol and Norton... credit for forcing dead legged Norton on the back foot. If he'd forced Young into his fight that'd be generalship but he was a bull to the matador down to the "killing blow" in the last round (flash KD) lol.

    Jimmy Young.

And Tyson won a title in year 2 and did it at a younger age than Frazier.

What about him? We’re comparing Frazier and tyson here, not foreman.
and? That’s irrelevant. Who was tyson fighting in his first 20 matches who was as dangerous as Oscar bonavena?

Agreed. Tyson spent his whole career dismantling tall rangy guys with strong jabs like Douglas and beat multiple fighters as good as or better than Douglas, then inexplicably fell apart against Douglas himself. Tyson's entire style was designed to compensate his short height and reach to get inside.

Frazier on the other hand was always going to have trouble with big guys who could push him back and nail him with mighty uppercuts, but no one had seen a monster quite like Foreman. Frazier never dealt with someone similar other than Bonavena, who still had many differences.

You sound upset. You seem to give excuses for gold medalist adults getting dropped hard and brush over teenagers blitzing through the rankings.

What makes you think that? Because I pointed out that judging a fighter based on his 12th match against a top contender is unreasonable?

Bonavena didn't make the 1965 Ring annual ratings.

Because Joe Frazier owns the single greatest victory in the history of the heavyweight division. First man to beat The Greatest.

He got ranked for almost beating Frazier, chief. That would’ve been an L for Frazier if the ten point must system were used.

Tyson was selected as the next heavyweight champion at an early age by the almost cult-like trained in D'Amato. The man famous for having previous youngest heavyweight champion of the world. Frazier picked up boxing to lose some weight and it clicked as far as I'm aware.

I would not hold the difference in progressing through professional ranks against Frazier, as much as I would perhaps praise Tyson's.

NoNeck is a shameless apologist for boxers he likes, but applies heavy handed criticisms and totally different criteria for boxers he doesn't like. If you point out a flaw in his logic, he will either double down on it or call you "emotional".

    Joe Frazier resume

    Muhammad Ali
    Doug Jones
    George Chuvalo
    Eddie Machen
    Oscar Bonavena x2
    Buster Mathis Sr
    Jerry Quarry x2
    Jimmy Ellis x2
    Joe Bugner
    Bob Foster

10 world title wins, 10 wins against top 10 ranked opposition.

    Mike Tyson resume

    Larry Holmes
    Michael Spinks
    Razor Ruddock x2
    Trevor Berbick
    Tony Tucker
    Pinklon Thomas
    Frank Bruno x2
    Bonecrusher Smith
    Tyrell Biggs
    Tony Tubbs
    Carl Williams
    Bruce Seldon
    Francois Botha
    Alex Stewart

12 world title wins, 12 wins against top 10 ranked opposition.

Me personally i like Tyson's resume a bit more i think he has a bit more filler and he has an edge in world title wins. I also think Tyson was a bit more tested against varied styles for example Tyson beat movers, tall out boxers, KO artists. For me Frazier was a bit unproven against KO artist of his era like Mac Foster, Ron Lyle, Earnie Shavers.

Frazier has the best single win of course over Ali but i slightly prefer Tyson's slightly better achievements and overall more filler to his resume i also rate Tyson as the better H2H fighter.
