I don't know where I saw this fight mentioned but I penciled it in sometime back and don't know who to thank for it. Believe me, it's 12 rounds of neat boxing and crisp exchanges throughout. I really enjoyed it.

Donnie Hood has been in some good scraps. Check out his fights with Samuel Duran and Brian Holmes when you get the chance.

I wanted to watch and score the second fight between Julio Cesar Chavez and Meldrick Taylor last night, but couldn't find it. Anyone have a link to the full fight?

Me too, but I have an alternative.

Put an apple and an orange in a blender, push them all the way to the bottom, fill to the top with ice and turn on high.

    Then score that.

If you know how to use a VPN, that'll fix it for you. You can change which country your computer/network is based on and it'll work. It's pretty straightforward and you can get a good one for free with Opera.

Myung Woo Yuh v Hiroki Ioka (Lt. flyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 2: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 3: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 4: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 5: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 8: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 9: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 10: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 11: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 12: 10-9 Yuh

Total: 116-113 Ioka (actual scores: 115-113 and 117-112 both for Ioka and a 115-113 for Yuh for a split win for Ioka)

Saying I might be entertained by a Yuh fight is as redundant as saying I might be bored during a Bernard Hopkins fight. This bout was nearing the end of Yuh's career but of course it became life or death, especially in the second half of the bout. Ioka was a real revelation. He came in with a real strategy and had the tools to back it up. Ioka was very strong, had a ram-rod of a jab and clearly was following a game plan of keeping Yuh on the outside with the jab while using some brilliant footwork to keep the distance from the shorter Yuh, who could not get close enough to unload. Yuh picked it up in the second half, likely because he was getting picked apart and Ioka was probably tiring a bit because Yuh started rushing his way in for his first bit of success. There were some tighter rounds in that second half but I was content with my score. Outstanding fight and I want to see part 2.

Hiroki Ioka v Myung Woo Yuh II (lt. flyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 2: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 3: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 6: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 7: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 8: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 9: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 10: 10-9 Ioka
    Round 11: 10-9 Yuh
    Round 12: 10-9 Yuh

Total: 118-111 Yuh (actual scores: 119-111, 117-112 and a 114-114 for Yuh by a majority decision)

What a difference from their first fight. Gone was Ioka's battle plan. Gone was the hard jab and the footwork. Man, for 12 rounds he sat there and allowed himself to be mugged. He was mugged from the outside, the inside and in the clinches. It was a comprehensive pounding and I have no idea what fight Lou Tabat was watching with his 114-114. He should be glad I wasn't boxing king for a day. I would have pulled his credentials for that score. It was not that difficult to tally.

One other thing if anyone feels like watching it. Their first fight is marked #II on youtube and their second fight is marked #I.

Nothing wrong with these scorecards. So many of these rounds were won by an eyelash and nary impossible to dispute no matter how you had it. Two very talented and competitive fighters who would always put on a great show. And this was one of them.

    Tony Tucker vs Buster Douglas

    Round 1: 10-9 Buster
    Round 2: 10-9 Buster
    Round 3: 10-9 Buster
Round 4: 10-9 Buster (could have gone either way)
    Round 5: 10-9 Buster
    Round 6: 10-9 Buster
Round 7: 10-9 Buster (could have gone either way)
    Round 8: 10-9 Tucker
Round 9: 10-9 Tucker (could have gone either way)
    Round 10: TKO

Total: 88-83 Buster Douglas by the time of the stoppage.

According to my scorecard, it could have been everything from 89-82 to 86-85 for Douglas. It doesn't matter anyway, as Tucker stopped Buster in the 10th.

Mac, I scored this awhile back. This is what I wrote:

Buster Douglas v Tony Tucker (vacant IBF heavyweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Douglas
    Round 2: 10-10 Even
    Round 3: 10-9 Douglas
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Douglas
    Round 6: 10-9 Douglas
    Round 7: 10-9 Douglas
    Round 8: 10-9 Tucker
    Round 9: 10-10 Even
    Round 10: Tucker stops Douglas

Total through 9 completed rounds: 89-85 Douglas (actual scores: 86-85 Douglas, 86-85 Tucker and 86-86 Even)

Not the most exciting bout - just brief moments here and there - still, I wanted to see it again after seeing it live back in the day. At first I thought, "Was that stoppage a bit premature?" But no, Douglas made no protest and he looked a beat man when he flopped on his stool. The two just lacked a bit of fire and Douglas did appear to be fatiguing. Amazing the difference training can do for a fighter when he went against Tyson. Either that or the stars just aligned right.

Not only for Tyson, he did a great job against McCall and Berbick too. If you haven't seen these bouts yet, I recommend for you to check them out. As for the stoppage - same thing here. Seemed premature, but the way Douglas collapsed on his stool and was out of it, I would call it a good decision by the ref. He ran out of steam real quick, can't see him going 5 more rounds. Shame really, he looked really good and had brilliant moments.

Mac, I saw the Douglas-Berbick fight sometime back and had it 99-92 for Douglas. I thought he looked fantastic in that fight. Great jab and combose popping. As for the Douglas-McCall fight, I hadn't seen it, so I watched it last night, which is probably why i slept so well. Not a great fight but I watched it to the bitter end. I gave every round to Douglas - unlike the judges who saw something McCall did with continuity. But the takeaway, of course, is that Douglas really could have been something for an era if he would have spent more time in the gym rather than the deli.
