What makes people think Bowe would've beaten Tyson?

I got Tyson but havin' Bowe isn't so unreasonable.

 

Bowe had excellent power, the size and the variety of punches that could have bothered Tyson.
His never die attitude would also mean that Tyson won't have an easy night.

 

It's just because they think Bowe is big and skilled on the inside. That's about it. No other reason to think he beats Tyson when Ruddock was punching harder. Bowe will get clipped and Tyson is still an excellent close/mid range counter puncher....

 

Mike Tyson should have been at his best as an inside fighter with his compact build, quickness, and strength. Standing square and losing the leverage battle is why MT was not as good inside as he could have been. When he was pushed back, it wasn't because he lacked strength, it was because of how his feet were positioned. The D'Amato style that he had learned and practiced had him standing almost square. A shoulder bump or push would make MT have to regain his balance. If MT stood square, RB would have the leverage advantage and be able to push MT back or off balance.

Of course MT threw fast, hard combinations and might knock RB out, but if the fight settled into an inside duel, RB would probably win because he knew how to keep his left shoulder forward and right foot back and fight more effectively on the inside. It's the same thing that happened to Foreman in Zaire, he squared his feet and shoulders and Ali was able to pull and push him. Squaring the feet gives a person balance and strength to the left and right but makes the person easy to push or pull.

 

They say Tyson would actually have like 700 more kids by now if it weren't for him not liking to shoot inside properly.

 

Yep agreed on every point here, let’s also not neglect to mention to upset certain folks that anyone with as leaky a defence as both Foreman and Bowe would be turned into a dribbling dummy in about 4 rounds by 88 Tyson.
