Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte - Aug. 16th

Even if he barely does, it's a huge step up in quality for Itauma...

Hopefully the kid pulls through, but I won't be as shocked as most on here if he doesn't - good to see a bit of bravery in the matchmaking at last.

 

He's nowhere near ready for Kabayel. Kabayel is one of the top HWs at the moment, imo. Kabayel should be fighting for a title, not beating up on prospects.

 

I mean, the sport is not without a history of cherry picking a vulnerable "name" going horribly wrong. Especially when the name has a big punch. Isn't that what Botha was trying with Mike Tyson? Etienne too? Tyson couldn't box very well by then, but if he hit you clean... well, ask Etienne how that went.

 

Yeah I agree, I worded this wrong, I meant that he needs to beat Kabayel for me to consider him the real deal and speak of him on the same level that every single British boxing analyst seems to. He's definitely not ready for him at the moment.

 

All I have to say is that I disagree with the 4 guys who picked Whyte by stoppage.He is virtually Kentucky fried chicken at this point.

 

Itauma' s not ready for the next level after beating Whyte. It wouldn't surprise me if he goes back to beating journeymen.

 

Do you think it is possible for something similar to Carl Thompson vs. David Haye to happen?

 

There are others more at Whyte's level out there. Why not Wallin? Wallin is tough and will give him some rounds.

 

Wallin could do more than give him rounds. We haven't seen anything from Itauma that says he's at that level.

 

I guess this explains why the card is another PPV.

 

No Thompson was still competing at world level were as Whyte hasn't been relevant since 2022.

Whyte is shopworn he's been in too many hard fights suffered 3 brutal KO losses it's a perfect veteran opponent for Itauma to look good against.

I would say it's an ok fight for Itauma and the best opponent he's fought by a considerable distance. But i don't think this fight will tell us anything new about Itauma, Whyte is too shopworn and no longer relevant IMO.

 

I don't want to see Wallin in another big fight he hasn't won a single round against his last two notable opponents in Joshua, Chisora.

The Chisora fight especially was a very disappointing performance from Wallin i don't want to see him again after that.

 

The more I think about this fight, the more I kinda like it.
Whyte is (to put it kindly) past his best, but I think if he can get through the early dangerous rounds and find some sort of rhythm he has the experience and skills to drag this into a bit of a gutter war. Rough house tactics, dirty boxing, call it what you want but it's in his arsenal and it has the potential to upset the applecart of a younger guy that hasn't faced that sort of adversity.

It's one of a number of tests I want to see Itauma make it through so I can put doubts to rest. The others looking like getting hit, and some rounds to see what his gas tank looks like.

If I was betting I'd put money on an early Itauma KO win though.

 

I think Whyte will take a dive to elevate Itauma.
