Buddy it’s okay, you won there’s a Marciano thread out there somewhere for you, I have 0 evidence and don’t actually know what boxing is outside the context of occasionally head butting a heavy bag so thank you for everything. I bid you good day, you can respond to my breakdown when it comes out.

I sure will , and look forward to it! Four Marciano threads, only 1 made by me ,and that was a year and a half ago.
Any Marciano threads you and Lonsdale don't come galloping to in an effort save your hero's rep from non-existent attacks ?

I mean Marciano is okay, bit overrated, competition isn't perfect (kinda meh) but as a fighter he did a lot right, fought inside as good as any HW ever and worked very hard H2H he gets beaten by a lot of guys though - how exactly is he a hero of mine? My current opinion of Marciano is he’s very good, not “great” and not suitable for most HWs as an opponent in today’s age - I don’t even know who Lonsdale is? McVey you are about as famous for “hating” Marciano as I am with Foreman just own it man.

" How would you have beaten Ali Joe?
"He doesnt know the first thing about fighting off the ropes, which is where he would be if he was fighting me."

This was before FOTC,Foreman and Lyle.

Lyle, Foreman and Frazier are not Joe Louis, none of those guys are close to as good, Ali going there would not be wise.

    Fighters I hate or dislike.
    Broner,Hamed,Mayweather,Fury.

My opinion ,stated many ,many times on here.
"Marciano was a great fighter,a great champion ,and a fine man."

Stating facts such as,Marciano never proved himself against a prime class modern sized heavyweight, Marciano did not have very good defence. Marciano had poor balance, was not fast afoot, nor with his hands, was not very accurate with his punches, cut in all his major fights. Had a tendency to foul, Marciano's best opponents were older men past their best,

Does not make you a hater, unless you are a fan boy who cannot accept the truth.
Marciano is the poster boy for overachievement.
He maximised what he had, courage, heart, the will to win, determination, excellent p4p power, the willingness to take punishment to deliver his own, confidence, and top notch ,dedicated , spartan conditioning and overcame all his disadvantages with the qualities just named.
He doesn't need smoke blown up his ass every time his name is mentioned . I don't know who Lonsdale is and I don't care,I do know what he is however.

Similar to fighting a peak Sonny Liston--I'd make peak Ali an 8-5 favorite over peak Joe Louis--but he better not get careless!!

A case could be made for either man. Both fighters possessed the attributes to exploit the other fighter’s weaknesses.
There is clear evidence that Louis didn’t perform his best against nimble movers, Conn 1, Pastor, Walcott (past prime Louis). And Ali was the best mover of them all, so many people could easily envision Ali moving too much and controlling the fight.
At same time, Ali had some very tough fights with smaller more traditional schooled boxers, Doug Jones, Henry Cooper, Ken Norton, and none of those guys were a patch on Louis.
It’s a great fantasy fight as one would expect when pitting two of the best ever against each other.

I have been of this opinion for some years now. I believe Louis would win, Ali may give him fits here and there but Louis IMO either edges a decision or stops Ali late in the fight.

The thing is, Ali is uniquely equipped to take advantage of Louis's weaknesses; and he's the only fighter of this weight to equal Joe's quality. The style advantage isn't just a matter of the boxer-puncher-box/puncher wheelhouse either - Louis's depth of strategy is just going to suffer in the face of Ali's. It's a weird thing to say, because Louis is the fighter that is best equipped to match Ali in terms of pure quality, but I don't think his chances are that series - I think he'd lose at a rate of 4/5, 5/6, something significant.

I will admit some interest in what happens to Ali when he drops off his toes in a fifteen round fight.

Add me to the list. I am a Tunney Hater and I will own it right now! I inherited that from my late Grandfather. What can I say? The Anti-Gene Gene runs strong in my family!
