It is a well known fact that British slickness is one of the most difficult puzzles to solve in boxing. Sunny would have boxed circles around this Chihuahua Rodriguez fella. :deal:

I was legit surprised when I read this fight was coming up.

I thought he hadn’t been at fly since the Obama years.

Very true. I hate to say it but Americans are probably the worst related to ring sportsmanship.

It´s pretty crazy to see how many of those guys are still around, in one form or another: Takayama, Gonzales, Nietes, Ioka. Old guys still going.

British Slickness is the gold standard. It's best foreigners wait for a Brit warrior to their dirty work for them rather than risk the humiliation of being on the wrong end of a 12 round Brit slicking. Only a Brit can defeat a Brit slickster

In hindsight: was waiting worth it, for Yafai? He made his pro debut in 2022, and celebrated his 30th birthday later that same year.

He did take Olympic gold the year before, but... at this point I don't think he's ever getting any closer to a real pro world title.

Is the gold medal worth having to settle for only a brief interim reign to show for himself in the pros?

Bitterness due to over consistency in losing.

Difference is those guys have gradually declined, whereas Rodríguez's form over the years has been like an EKG machine.

I remember when Hopkins was still a champ and seeing how almost all of his "conquerors" had been long retired. But there he was, standing tall, and a world champion.

Kinda a similar story with Rodriguez. It wont be long till only Nakatani remains.

I was gonna go on a 15 paragraph post totally and utterly substantiating those hard facts, squire.

But hey, I'm being Mr modest tonight.

Francisco Rodríguez set the record for punches landed by a flyweight in one night, at 575.
