    That looked like a career-altering ass-beating.

    :deal:

^ Not that any written words of certification can actually do those Brit greatness facts you quoted justice, squire.

As those words are words long cast in stone, or spoken as words of iron...;)

But the ' :deal: ' reference makes for an easy understandable relatable ESB touch.

Good point, we should also ask Jalolov a similar question

@CST80 I take it I'm too late to choose Rodriguez by brutal career ending unanimous decision

Jalolov made his pro debut before getting an Olympic gold medal (taking advantage of the rule change in recent years that lets non-amateurs compete) and then greedily went for two while half assing his pro career. :sisi1

Dreadful cornerwork, really awful tactics from Yafai, really needed to try and pot-shot his way through Rodriguez with cleaner work and eye-catching shots. It was clear from the first round that he couldn't match him fire for fire but his tactics didn't change at all once through the entire fight, could've been stopped in any of the last 3 rounds, especially early in the 12th. They had no plan B at all. Don't see how he competes with anyone at elite level, also shows just how shot Sunny was when he fought him.

I don't think that's the case, stylistically Yafai would probably give any version of Edwards issues, as would Rodriguez. Sunny was always there for the taking for anyone who knows how the cut the ring off well.

I just watched the highlights. That Mexican put a beating on that man. A bad beating.

Not denigrating Rodriguez performance in anyway but, a fighter with that many bouts on his record, many of them wars against world class opposition and he pulls out a performance like that! Not necessarily suspicious but in no doubt unexpected and dare I say it, other worldly, he literally maintained the exact same pace throughout all 12 rnds, never took a round off and barely broke a sweat in the corner!

Serious question, what is next for Galal Yafai after this hopeless beating that gave him a lot of damage and also showed a lot of flaws?

Will he retire quietly without much announcement?
Will Eddie try to find some way to semi-cash him out against a domestic Brit next year?
Will he try to cut down to 108 (if possible) where it seems like it is a dip in overall talent right now with no true standout guys there and hope for a chance next year?
Will he rest until next spring/summer, then maybe get one comeback fight against a domestic dude followed by a safer ranked guy to push his name up again with hope for one last 112 world title chance again in 2027 when he will be 34 years old, hoping there is a vacant belt or an easy picking opponent available?

I missed the fight, but just watched the highlights, couple questions for those who watched.

Did Yafai get beat down the entire fight as the highlights made it seem?
Were the commentators sucking Yafai off the entire time as the highlights made it seem?

For what it's worth, I'm a fan of Rodriguez and I've seen quite a few of his matches. He brought the same intense pace from start to finish against Junto Nakatani and Kazuto Ioka, and in my opinion did enough to beat Ioka and draw with Junto. And let's be honest, Nakatani and Ioka are levels above Yafai. He didn't test positive after either one of those matches, so I doubt he will after this one either. Also you have to take into consideration, he knew he was winning yesterday, there's no way he couldn't have. Which would have emboldened and energized him even more.
