What evolution was there in the 30 years between Byrd and Ali?

Less then 30 years between Tommy Burns and Joe Louis... GC BUDDY have you ever seen anyone as slick as Byrd in Alis scalp collection? What about Byrd’s X factor here - who was the best Southpaw MA fought? Who was the most skilled boxer? Young (lost 1/3 of the time) (robbery) is the closest… Ali specialised in beating up the “big” (small today) dummies like GF (around the same size as Byrd) Liston (smaller…) Lyle (similar sized) and robbing Norton who was no great boxer (Ask LeDoux , Shavers and Garcia)… boxing evolves lineally why do you think the more modern guys like Berbick, Spinks and Holmes beat Ali so easily?

Usyk has walked through the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions and is still undefeated, he is not a fighter who will have some unfortunate defeat against a fighter below his level, Usyk is the best ever and that should be accepted...

    Yeah...

150 Years of Boxing X 100's of Greats, where he would easly fall below... even among 'some' S-HW's, nevermind HW's.

I'm shaking my head reading this thread. I agree with Thistle. Good fighter, nothing special. Maybe he's the best out there now, but that isn't nearly enough to elevate him above the real, proven greats.

And Wlad, let's not forget about Wlad. He dominated Byrd twice, outclassed him. Maybe Ike too?

By the way, that's quite an interesting domination. He won with great difficulty against two past prime champions, one of whom for a dozen or so months before Usyk won only one fight with difficulty, fighting for his life against an old, inactive, returning from injury and debuting in boxing MMA fighter. This is not the golden era of HW and Usyk did not dominate it. He is great, he is wonderful but not that great.

Why do you keep making threads like this that you disagree with?

You and I both know that you think the 70s guys were at least as good as the best guys today. Or better.

Since you believe that, it seems a waste of time to keep making arguments that disagree with your actual views. Think of how many people you might have persuaded to agree with what you really believe if you'd made those threads instead.
