Dubois, his handers and fans, are counting on three possibly largely fictional narratives.

I think if Joshua lost to Dubois but made it somewhat competitive or outright competitive it would have been understandable but it's the way he got destroyed.

    Narrative 2 is possible true.

The other two have little to no evidence they’re true, DuBois is a hype job til proven otherwise. Beating two proven career underachievers, and a visibly awful AJ isn’t much. Even if what @Dynamicpuncher said is true, it still isn’t a mark for DuBois “improving”, but that it’s a bad style match up for AJ….

Most people already would have assumed he was on the level of the under achievers he beat who started the current hype train…

I do not think Dubios has made any major improvements outside of confidence. Maybe he has made big improvements, time will tell. Usyk could very well get old overnight, and I think that would be the most likely scenario to arise resulting in an upset. I think Uysk will win, and it will be a good fight, but all the ingredients are there for a huge upset. The older you get the bigger the piece that is taken from you at each training camp and fight that you cant get back.

Usyk better be ready for a very dirty fight with the ref looking the other way.

    Narrative 2

Dubois has improved and Usyk will only have declined at 38.5 y/o and with two tough fights against the way bigger Belly and three more very long and gruelling training camps for Usyk sparring against much bigger guys than himself again

This coupled with Usyk fighting Dubois in his backyard on a deck which will be heavily stacked against him where the chances of him loosing via hook or via crook are that much greater and Dubois being permitted to have more than the two legal weapons at his disposal (and his two legal ones are deadly enough) makes it a much more risky fight for Usyk this time round.

Dubois is much bigger (bigger than the first fight), much younger, much more powerful with devastatingly power, has an excellent engine, is well schooled with good skills, and is pretty fast for his size, and the deck is heavily stacked in his favour.

Even if this was the exact same Usyk and Dubois from the first fight Dubois is still much bigger and younger with devastating power and the margin for error for Usyk would still be much less.

I thought Usyk looked very slow in the first Fury fight. He won clearly but I thought that was father time catching up with him... then he looked significantly faster/sharper in the second Fury fight. Of course people can age over night but Usyk lives the life, and seems to be fairly injury free, so I think he should be fine at least for this fight and probably the next.

The worst fans in boxing are the Usyk fans.

If Dubois beats him. Just admit he was still the P4P best going in to the fight but Dubois was too good on the night.

And if Usyk wins, he was just too good for Dubois like he was first Fury and AJ

Narrative 1-Tbd. Unifying the titles aside the point of having Usyk v Dubois is to answer this question. But theres probably some truth to it.

Narrative 2-38 is old but not old enough to be an excuse for an undefeated champion to lean on. If Dubois wins it won't tell us if thats because Usyk has lost a step and would lose to others or because Dubois is just that great. It also won't tell us if Uysk would have lost to others if he'd fought different oppponents in the past few years. None of those questions will be answered by this fight.

Narrative 3-Will no longer matter. If Usyk beats prime Dubois easy then that performance by Dubois was a fluke and the foul didn't matter. If Dubois wins then Usyks win can also be explained by narrative 1 and the foul doesn't matter.

Many boxing fans simply don't understand that sometimes one guy is just better than the other guy on the night.

There always has to be an excuse - LOL.

I kinda do think Usyk is getting a bit old to be able to apply the science necessary to withstand someone like a peaking DD.

Boxing is a game of inches and those inches can be the distance between a masterful performance or a ko loss where a torch is passed.

Usyks been looking a bit old imo and it will be beyond impressive if at his age he can repell a challenger like DD.

War Usyk but getting nervous for this one.
